NEW ALBUM RELEASE DATE
were here because were here

ANATHEMA can officially announce the release of their eagerly anticipated 8th studio album ‘WE’RE HERE BECAUSE WE’RE HERE,’ to be released on May 31st via Kscope Records.

'‘We’re Here Because We’re Here’ is Anathema’s most expansive album to date and by the far best thing we’ve ever done. Not only have we improved as writers, but because we took our time, we had the opportunity to select the very best material and concentrate on it. We gave the songs the chance to breathe and come alive by themselves and it’s ended up being magical – every song is as good as the rest of them. This album features the best performances by the band ever; Vincent’s greatest vocals and John’s and my best writing" - Danny Cavanagh

Vincent goes further in explaining the origins of the album's enigmatic title:

"The title 'We're Here Because We're Here' is inspired by a song that was first heard across the Allied trenches of World War One. Sung to the tune of 'Auld Lang Syne', the song served as a defiant rallying-call keeping up the morale of those who had to endure the incessant carnage and almost unimaginable horror. The spirit behind those words, and the deep questions they raised immediately struck all of us. Therefore we have appropriated these words to reflect the spirit and bond that all six members of the group have with each other. We have shared some incredible experiences, on all levels, and the fact that we have emerged stronger, more determined, and confident in our common vision is a testament to our resilience, both as individuals and collectively"

Danny continues:

"The bond is deeper than the music and you might say the direction of music is a product of our connection to each other; a real family in every sense of the word."

With that in mind the band can announce that John Douglas' sister Lee has joined the group on a full-time basis. She had this to say of her involvement:

"It’s great to be more involved musically, and I feel that my vocals are adding a new presence and depth to the dynamic of the group. I’m in it for the long haul, so bring it on!"

The self-produced album was mixed by Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) and features the exquisite string arrangements of Dave Stewart (Stewart/Gaskin, Porcupine Tree) and mastering skills of legendary Jon Astley (The Who, Led Zeppelin). The song 'Angels Walk Among Us' features subtle backing vocals by Ville Valo of H.I.M.

Full tracklisting is as follows:

Thin Air
Summernight Horizon
Dreaming Light
Everything
Angels Walk Among Us
Presence
A Simple Mistake
Get Off, Get Out
Universal
Hindsight

Pre-order details will soon be available on this site.

The first part of Road Salt is finished – mixed, mastered and delivered! It is a 12 track album of sweaty grovel, asphalt butterflies, untreaded paths and brave decisions. It will be presented to the world in one standard edition and one limited director’s cut, of which we of course recommend the latter one. See, as usual, we refuse to add some stuff haphazardly to put together a limited product – we always see the larger version as the “real” one; the one that makes us the proudest. The release is scheduled for May, and anyone who won’t understand that it’s a musical miracle is an idiot who deserves to be force fed with Ulf Lundell. Seriously. It will not beg for your liking, it will not make excuses, it will not carry you across the dangerous waters. If you don’t pick up its pace it will leave you stranded at the curb of the road. Road Salt Ivory might be a harsh lover, but if you have the guts to follow it whole-heartedly and dare to surrender to its voice, it will take you places you need to visit.

But I'mm still really happy with it all. I had another lsiten to the album, and I really was quite proud of it. I have both of their albums and am looking forward to the new release this year (fingers crossed)

Not played them for a while, I'll add them to my rotation list for tomorrow.

Conversely, do you have John Arch's "A Twist Of Fate"?

Probably my favourite EP.

If you have Mucho Kudos, if not, you'll be glad you checked it out! Wink

Thanks........I love new stuff ClapClap

Steve have you heard of Circus Maximus? I just found them on the Zune Marketplace as a related artist. I d/l both albums "The 1st Chapter" and "Isolate". So far very good, bio makes references to a lot of DT influence....although the singer reminds me of Geoff Tate from Queensryche......

Just thought I would mention it and try and return the favor of new bands. The bands website says they are working on a new album for late 2010.

Cheers

Mattsson

Mattsson is a name that has become synonymous with melodic progressive metal fused with symphonic, neo-classical and ethnic touches. This direction is continued and taken to a higher level for “Tango”, the fifth album to be released under the Mattsson banner. Led by guitarist / composer Lars Eric Mattsson, “Tango” sees the collaboration between Mattsson and vocalist Adrienn Antal who first paired up on 2008’s “Dreamchild” release build upon its predecessors impressive foundations for this overall heavier release.

See calendar for further info.
