I am no computer geek, yet I've had the same PC for 6 years, running XP.  I've only replaced the power supply, the video card, and added more RAM.  It's still going strong.I don't need a computer that will allow me to recreate a PIXAR film.
Exactly you're no computer geek so you're not running linux or doing crazy things with you computer. Neither am I, though with a mac.
