I grew up listening to funk in the 70's, that was my first music love and I have explained before funk is what led me to progressive rock.
Not sure I like either tag line of psychedelic soul or black rock, the more I look at both nahhh. It will always be funk to me, what George Clinton created is so artistically funky it's the only way to describe it.
I've seen Parliament in the 70's and very little compared to what they were doing on stage. Their music had a good dose of rock, whereas most others were more rhythm and blues based like The Isley Bros, Maze, EW&F....they were still considered very funky.

If you wonder what a German/Spanish cross between Progressive Rock and Psychedelic Soul sounds like, it sounds like this.....
EVOLUTION - Evolution (1970)

Cool topic and thanks for the link.  Lots of good stuff in that genre. Funkadelic's Maggot Brain is one fo my all time faves.  I also like me some Mandrill.

Even more than Psychedelic Soul, I love the Soul Jazz of the same era, with The Crusaders taking center stage.  Great work from many longstanding jazz artists like Donald Byrd.  Bobbi Humphrey too.

Psychedelic Soul (or Black Rock) is a combination of Psychedelic Rock and Soul music that emerged in the late 1960's with the aptly-named Funkadelic  being one of the most popular bands in the genre. One of my all-time favourite bands of the era was Rotary Connection, featuring Minnie Riperton, who later went on to solo success with her song "Loving You". Heart
