He'd ban me from the site in about a nanosecond. Oh, and this just gives further credence to my theory of the internet: No matter how old something is, or how many millions of people have already seen it, someone somewhere is seeing it today for the very first time. I hadn't seen this article before today, but the only part that actually made me lol was the ELP dongs and the mended song titles on the mock prog album.

I have seen this article before since I go to Cracked almost as often as ProgArchives. When I saw the heading, I had a strong inkling on what the discussion was about. I've read the article numerous times now, and it is still funny. I think laughing at it is a sign of a true Prog fan, for in doing so, we laugh at ourselves.

I recommend re-naming the thread title to something more obvious for searching purposes and being able to find like Cracked On Prog and place it in Just For Fun. I think it's the first time I've seen it in this form though. And I appreciate the humor, it appears to be written by a true fan.
By the way, people could do a better job with their thread titles. When appropriate, put your screen name in it instead of making it too generic. That way people can go "Oh that pinhead again, don't need to bother with that." Which is why I put Slartibartfast in any poll I launch when I should. The only time I got it wrong was on 9/11/11 releases poll. I should have just left it at choices of stuff I was interested in. Edited by Slartibartfast - September 26 2011 at 18:05 |

Why do I re-read the whole thing every time it's re-posted?

I was the original, the forward-thinking one who said it:
I maintain it. And about the link, it's old but still funny and still true...

I only complain about necroposting when the original thread was terrible to begin with. |

I don't see the big deal with having the same thing posted multiple time. Redundancy isn't a bad thing if it gives people a chance to read and discuss something they haven't before, etc. Especially considering that I've seen you react with just about the same amount of disdain to gravediggers - if they can't post a new topic, and they can't bump old ones, are they doomed to never discuss a certain topic because they happened to miss the magic timeframe where it was originally discussed? |
