Topic: The best keyboard player for you ? Posted: January 01 2008 at 06:32 |
Interesting that only British keyboard players are on the list. Are there really no good keyboard players in other countries? I don't think so.So let's name a few others from other countries:
Germany
Ingo Bischof (Kraan, Guru Guru, Karthago. Karthago are, by the way, still not in the archives) Jürgen Fritz (Triumvirat) Jürgen Dollase (Wallenstein, Cosmic Jokers) and, of course, Barbara Dennerlein, the queen of the Hammond organ
France
Cyrille Verdeaux Jean-Philippe Rykiel
USA
Ray Manzarek (ok, he is only prog-related) George Duke

Wakeman, but would have voted Rudess if he were in the list.

Very hard to choose one of Rick and Keith. These two is top of our greatest keyboardist, eh? But in stage, I prefer to Keith performance when he plays his instrument upside down. So, Keith is my choice.

The best (more objectively): Rick Wakeman, Eddie Jobson, Keith Emerson, Patrick Moraz, Kenny Minnear
My favourite player though: Tony Banks. But Jobson, Emerson and Wakeman share the 2nd position.
At this moment...

This is a tough one. I'm not a keyboardist so I can't make as accurate of a selection as for bass, but I like Banks, Emerson, Minnear, and Wakeman all about equally.

I've voted for Emerson, but it's fair to remember some of the forgotten/underrated/less known like Kerry Minnear.
I think every fan of Gentle Giant knows what I mean, and if you haven't listened to them, it's sure worth the try!
