Give them Supertramp, Crime of the Century then. I don't think anyone would complain.

1 Chronicles 13:7-9
Then David and all Israel played music before God with all their might, with singing, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tambourines, on cymbals, and with trumpets. |

This is a very strange thread. Of course there will always be someone who dislikes a band.

But yeah, I don't think everyone can like one band.
I think that the only band that I can think of that most adults wouldn't ever say is bad is Pink Floyd because of The Dark Side of the Moon. Their music just has a lot of credibility, so people think they have to like it, and then... well... they do.

Well, If there was a band LOVED by EVERYONE, it would be the best band ever. But if we're talking about the band whom nobody DISLIKES...
Maybe Pink Floyd, but I'm not sure either. I don't love them and never didm, but they are straightforward enough not to unplease people with different tastes.
Mike Oldfield maybe?

Thing is if your first introduction to a band is their worst album even the greatest of bands could be in trouble, first impressions can in a subtle yet influencing way change how I perceive an artist I love a few bands even a bit of a fanboy take Kansas for example (a band I have always admired) if you let me hear Drastic Measures first I doubt I would have liked Kansas much after that but I heard Leftoverture first and I was sold. So to sum it all up show me a band that hasn't released a so so album from their decent sized catalog and that's the band no one dislikes I believe.

No, I don't think so. There will always be someone out there who dislikes something everyone else seems to love. It's what makes the world interesting.

All the clips I've heard of them have not enticed me to buy.
I can't believe a thread with such a silly concept has lasted 7 pages.

A few years ago i stopped reading press articles and reviews of VDGG since all they ever seemed to say was that Johnny Rotten liked them. This fact told us something about Rotten but nothing about VDGG and yet it has been repeated ad nauseam.
I suppose i have repeated it here too, but i had to get this off my chest.

Well, I can't stand Yes. hahahah. I get a lot of flack for it, but I've never liked them. And although I love King Crimson, I've met plenty people who can't stand them either.
I don't think there is such a thing as a band EVERYONE loves.

sorry I don't get the point...
The advantage of this post is mainly to see that even Top Ten artists on this site are disliked by some people. I don't like Yes, at the point that I can't listen to an entire track, even the short ones... I like some of KC but certainly not all their songs...
So what?
I don't understand this McDo' thinking: what most people won't dislike is maybe caracterized by a very poor creativity or quality... probably not a good example of prog... Edited by damme - November 01 2007 at 15:14 |

I never get to disliking DT, I always fall asleep before
Now seriously I couldn't miss this occasion for a little fun, but it's good to know that I'm not a DT basher. I've seen some excellent stuff from them on YouTube, much better than what I've heard on their albums. |

No one dislikes Dream Theater? I think you must be joking...
As I said before, there cannot possibly be any band NO ONE dislikes, or everybody likes - and thank heavens for that! Here you'll find all kinds of tastes, from the more traditional to the more left-field, and this is what makes this site such a great place. The essential thing is not to indulge in mindless bashing. |

the kind of band that no one dislikes or everybody likes must be divided by genre.
Traditional Progressive metal: Dream Theater, Shadow Gallery, Savatage, et cetera. Psychedelic / Space rock: Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Eloy Symphonic : Yes, old Genesis and so forth |

Ah Robert; yes if there is someone nothing bad can be said about , that's him! Agree!
I never heard any criticism about him either. ( the only critic would be from his communist rethoric, but when i buy a Wyatt album , it's for the mood and the voice, not the lyrics. ...so it's ok and makes him the best! ( at least one of them) Edited by febus - November 01 2007 at 06:59 |
