I've bought close to 25 '06 prog releases. Heard 'em all!

The new Red Sparowes is very good. I had no expectations at all (only heard a few good compliments about the band), so I'm glad I bought it. Thumbs Up

^ on the start page of my website (www.progtology.com) you just have to choose "Experimental Prog Metal 2006" in the sidebar, and you'll see what the (relatively few) members have suggested so far.Smile

I meant to pick up the new Isis album, and will probably be ordering it in the coming weeks, could you recommend some other good experimental metal then?

I've heard a few (maybe 5 or 6) prog albums from this year but I'm more interested in older music.

How can you know that 2007 will be better if you only listened to 2 albums of 2006?

I meant in terms of albums by bands  i'm actually interested in - Only really PRR and Tool this year, and one of them was a major disappointment. So i can predict that by the albums slated for release in 2007 that it will be a better year than 2006 (for me)

There are definitely going to be more popular prog releases out in 2007. Just off the top of my head: Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, Pain of Salvation, Symphony X, probably Opeth...

Devin Townsend, Tool, The Mars Volta, The Flower Kings, Spock's Beard, Vanden Plas, Mogwai, Steve Hackett, Andromeda, Angra etc. ... aren't they kind of popular too?

I've listened only 2 albums from 2006: Ars Nova - " Chrysalis-Force For The Fourth" (great new versions of old compositions !) and Echolyn - "The End is Beautiful" (in fact this is my fisrt Echolyn's album). As you see I usually listen to 60'-70' or only retro-prog from 90'-00'.

I'm not that interested in -06 prog.

Tool and The Mars Volta, not much else.
