Topic: Favorite Gabriel-Era Genesis Album Posted: July 28 2005 at 19:29 |
One think I noticed from Gabriel's Genesis is that they got better and
better. Their newest album was always better than the last one. I was
wondering what they could do to top The Lamb. Maybe this was one of
the (hidden) reasons for their break up, they just couldnt do better than
The Lamb.

SEBTP just beats Foxtrot and Nursery Cryme into 2= place IMO. This is to a large extent because of the superior sound (i.e. the drums don't sound like cardboard boxes being slapped with a wet kipper).

Foxtrot. All other albums have their weak spots, this one's just perfect. There's only two albums like that: Foxtrot and CTTE

Having just finished playing "Selling..." 4 times in a row I think it would have to be my all time favourite Genesis album. As mentioned above, the quintessential prog album.

no doubt Nursery Cryme is brilliant, but it's brilliance doesn't shine through as easily as Sellign England or Foxtrot since it does have awful sound quality. Great album, but I don;t think the compositions are as mature as on the next couple of albums either. IMO.
