Well while on this topic, when YES toured Australia I meet the band, and as usual Chris arrived late at the party "whers the beer", someone asked him about Fish Out Of Water, his reply, "thats a very intresting question, as I have been thinking of doing a DVD format for it"from the man himself, well he had had a few, not Chris, thats unlike him isnt it.

Oh yeah, those have always been my 2 favorite songs on the album, though the whole thing works great together. When I finally could afford to start replacing my old vinyl collection, Fish Out of Water and Olias of Sunhillow were the first solo albums I replaced. Both are good, but Olias leaves me depressed, not so with Fish. And the bass playing on Fish is amazing to listen to! Edited by Wandering Days |

That's because he played with Vímana (a seventies
brazilian band). I comment it in: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=10440& amp; amp;KW=moraz
If anyone like it (not me at all), you can download
some excerpts from
Vímana recorded with him.

Chris Squire was a guest on Stuart Maconie's Freakzone on BBC6 a couple of weeks ago, promoting the album and reformation of Syn,his pre-Yes psych-pop band.To be honest,it didn't sound too hot IMHO.

It's always been one of my favourite albums, and the overall production is superb. The composition, the playing, the choice of soloists. Jimmy Hastings makes a good contribution as well as Moraz and Collins. Lucky Seven would be my favourite track, I guess.. If you listen to the production, there are very few flaws; admittedly, the recording isn't as clean as it could be, they were obviously driving the desks close to the edge (if you will), but you can still hear every note perfectly. I would hold it up to the production of 'Perilous Journey' (Gordon Giltrap), 'Crime of the Century' (Supertramp) and 'One of a Kind' (Bruford). Sure, they're all quite different styles, but the production values are superb on these cuts. DSP |

Yes me too - thought 'i' was amazing, though sound quality a bit thin on the old vinyl. Some terrific compositions, great solos, poor vocals (sadly) but VERY prog and brimming with ideas. His subsequent solo albums degenerated into sub-standard Brazilian jazz. |

I agree completely. Mr. Squire has hidden talents. He proves himself to be an excellent composer. I wish he made more high quality albums like that. |

"Hold out your hand" is a great cut, I love the video of it on the
Yesyears" DVD, with Bruford and Moraz. I prefer the Moraz album "Story of I" as an album, but don't know if it counts as a "Yes solo album", since he didn't record with them after that (though they did tour Relayer once more). |

I love this album, not because it's dark, but because it's rather heavy. Squire does a very good job on the bottom line and Mel Collins just lifts the whole thing. Pity that Squire decided to sing, for he has no voice, just like Howe - but one gets used to it after a while... Any one of you bothered to review it? |

oh yeah, that's a given with Squire. I was really impressed with his ability to handle the lead vocals. Much more than just harmonies with Anderson and Howe. Not to mention his compositional skills. If it were 'mere' bass playing alone it wouldn't be half as good as the album ended up being. It's really good.... music. |
