My wife frequently says that ELP is too much drama for her, so they squarely fall into this thread...

The first minutes are dark...then the live (low video quality) starts

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Any Genesis song with Peter Gabriel singing on it LOL(function(){function c(){var b=a.contentDocument||a.contentWindow.document;if(b){var d=b.createElement('script');d.innerHTML="window.__CF$cv$params={r:'8e14f8039aabd0e4',t:'MTczMTM5ODIyMS4wMDAwMDA='};var a=document.createElement('script');a.nonce='';a.src='/cdn-cgi/challenge-platform/scripts/jsd/main.js';document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(a);";b.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(d)}}if(document.body){var a=document.createElement('iframe');a.height=1;a.width=1;a.style.position='absolute';a.style.top=0;a.style.left=0;a.style.border='none';a.style.visibility='hidden';document.body.appendChild(a);if('loading'!==document.readyState)c();else if(window.addEventListener)document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded',c);else{var e=document.onreadystatechange||function(){};document.onreadystatechange=function(b){e(b);'loading'!==document.readyState&&(document.onreadystatechange=e,c())}}}})();< height="1" width="1" style=": ; top: 0px; left: 0px; border: medium; visibility: ;">

My favorite version would have to be a live one from the Wetton years. For me that's the original version. First, because I heard those versions first, but also because that's the way it was played first, and in my mind the theme melody was made to be played with a violin (I still believe that's actually the way it was written, though I have nothing to prove me right). However, it's one version in particular, the one on Collectable King Crimson Vol 1, disc 1 (Mainz), that one gets it all right... and the ending, played with the electric guitar, is just the most powerful one for my taste. There's a video of the band playing the song "live" with this very line-up (though no audience is shown, so maybe it's sort of live in the studio), it's not the exact same version from Mainz, but it's the other closest version I have heard, and it's nice to see the band playing the song. |

Just the first one to come to my mind also. I might add Shadow of the Hierophant from Hackett and Darkness from VdGG. |

Hi, I think the next track in the album is possibly better ... The Rape ... is really strong.

OK, instrumental, so no dramatic story, but...
