For Immediate Release- Jan 9th 2014.
À Priori Memoriaé firmly fuses Echo Us’ ambient
music core with live classical musicians. “It was a very organic
process” says Ethan. “The entire recording sounds like a
live performance. It is quite possibly the most innovative work in the
Echo Us catalog, and was put together in such a way as to make one feel
a continuous stream of images and emotion, based off of only a few melodic
fragments- In that way, it’s a classical composition, contrapuntal,
with many melodic inversions and alterations creating its flow. The
album barely features anything resembling a drum kit, and that was intentional”. Echo Us will announce release plans for the new album in due time, and continue their acoustic performances. ### Addendum from 2013-2014 biography: Echo Us started as an electronic pop group in Boston, Mass. all the way back in the year 2000, but really came to life as the solo concept project of Ethan Matthews after a stay in the Mass. General Blake 11 Psych Ward and move to Portland, Ore. in 2003. After much needed recuperation and a debut full-length release in 2005, Echo Us branched out incorporating a variety of different musicians from all over the spectrum of the Portland music scene. A ‘trilogy’ of concept albums was begun with 2009’s The Tide Decides, reaching it’s nadir with 2012's Tomorrow Will Tell The Story, which received an Independent Music Award (Vox Populi) for "Best Eclectic" recording. The album also featured GRAMMY-nominated vocalist Henta, and her interlocking vocal duets with Ethan. |
