Of all the albums that are going up against each other, this round may cause the most contention.
Anyhow...three days! Pick one! No matter how much it pains you!

Yes,I agree with you . Not easy choice - WYWH has some excellent compositions, but as whole album Animals is better. What to choose?

Wish You Were Here, the last album of great "Collective Era". Then began Totality.

Wish You Were Here is pure class.
Animals is rather patchy imo.

Animals. Just flows well, great subject matter and great music. WYWH is very good, but doesn't do it totally for me.

My ranking of Pink Floyd albums is:
Saucerful of Secrets
Dark Side of the Moon
Meddle
Wish You Were Here
Ummagumma
Atom Heart Mother
Piper at the Gates of Dawn
Animals
The Division Bell
A Momentary Lapse of Reason
The Wall
More
Obscured By Clouds
The Final Cut
The first six are among the greatest albums ever. The next two are very good and good respectively. The next five are OK and the last one is poor. IMO of course. Edited by ten years after - November 01 2010 at 02:57 |

I'll take Wish You Were Here over Animals any day if I have to chose one or the other.

After much gnashing of teeth (ok, it really was only about five seconds, but it was a painful five seconds) (and by pain, I really mean only a slightly numb sensation, nothing like getting an arm broken) (or giving birth) (or so I'm told) I voted for "Wish You Were Here".

Today I'll go for Wish You Were Here, but it usually is Animals. Anyway, I haven't listened to either in a long time.

This was a really tough choice for even me. I was tempted to say "Wish You Were Here", simply because I had an awe-inspiring...let's call it an "experience"...while listening to that album, but I think "Animals" holds up better no matter what situation you find yourself listening to it in.
