I was wondering if anybody knew of a really really bad disasterous prog band. AND i mean really bad not just say that a band you dont like very much is bad. But i mean so bad its funny. Way beyond ricky martin bad... Just to give you a hint of what kind of bad i mean i suggest to listen to these samples

http://www.miserablemelodies.com/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/miserabl/li stall.cgi?arg=Rating

I specially recommend the Portsmouth Sinfonia and all their songs...they are the worst symphony orchestra in the world and has given out two records i think

Hmm no it was not entirely what i meant i did not mean to say what prog bands you did not like. But i mean really horrid bands that are so bad that everybody could agree is bad...and still being progressive. Surely a hard genre as prog must have many flops in their time...

To my mind Asia's not really prog band at all... They just play pop. I don't see the progressive element.

This is just to clarify that it took me several careful listens to realise that the guy was trying to sing in Spanish. And please feel free to dissociate my sentence and apply "try" both to sing and to Spanish...

Not in the music itself. Being comprised of ex-prog musicians is not enough to qualify in my books.

Well I meant in the music itself obviously! Its a litle prog to my way of thinking. Prog lite if you like! Asia as a band are on the fuzzy edge of prog, not near the centre. A sort of pop/prog.

Yeah, I guess so... But a lot of the stuff I listen to and label prog would probably be just as easily contested by those who find it too damn weird. Each to their own, say I!

Henry Cow, Thinking Plague... the whole RIO scene. People sometimes say that's not proper prog.

Likewise oddities like prog punk bands and general musical mavericks - The Residents, for example, I'd personally class as progressive but I doubt they'd ever make it on this site.

RIO is preeetttty bad.  Henry Cow does absoluetly nothign for me.  Univers Zero I liked after hearing one song, but then every other song after that sounded the same, same rythym and absense of melody, same instrumentation, blechh.  Yea, I am not a RIO-Avant Garde fan.  They shouldn't be lumped wiht Canterbury on this site, which is good music, IMO.
