Anyone else familiar with this crazy man (Aubrey de Grey) and his dealings with ending aging?

For reference:

1hr+ documentary:

Short speach (22min):

Wikipedia:

Basically, he says aging is a disease that can be cured by replacing small bits in our bodies which would keep our minds and bodies fresh for somewhere around 500 years or more.  Which leads to many many more questions like why would you want to, why would you need to, what about the natural world (earth, the immediate environment of plants, animals, etc), over population (birth, death), and so on.  Clearly, man has had some sort of desire to prolong life for a while now (remember the fountain of youth nonsense from a few hundred years ago?)

I haven't finished the entire documentary, but did see about 50 mins/1hour 15.  I intend to finish it, but wanted to see what others thoughts are on this madness.  Clearly I'm on the side of forget about it because there is no need for us to live that long, especially with all the ridiculous consequences it brings about, and man has managed to evolve from living only a couple decades to quite often an entire century.  Why would that stop now, and why would we need to speed that process through somewhat unnatural methods.  Then there are those crazy people that Aubrey de Grey thinks are kind of nutty too that try to prolong their lives through semi-starvation.  HAHA.  Right.  Be sick and have no libido is the best way to live a couple extra years?

Anyways, what do you all think about extreme life expectancy, stopping the inevitable, etc?
