"Power" is a weak album, probably the worst Kansas recorded with Steve Walsh, but this review is very cruel.

Bon Jovi is actually very intelligent and "warm" man. I saw him on the Oprah show some months ago and I totally changed my mind on him. And the band has made some classic rock songs I like so I got nothing against him.

Eh, stop railing against Bon Jovi. Not saying I'm a huge fan today, but I did see them twice in the 80's (once opening for the Scorpions, and then on the Slippery When Wet tour) and they're a pretty talented band. Funny how some bands become such easy targets.
As for Power, I like it for what it is; however, it reminds me more of a polished Streets album than a Kansas album. It has it's moments, but extremely pale when compared to Leftoverture, Masque, and Point Of Know Return. Then again, a lot of albums would pale when being compared to these, as well.

hmm...
I don't have anything against jon bon jovi and he is an intelligent man with lot of depth. and I agree that they have made some classic songs, unfortunately that has changed now...
I rather saw the humorous side of it and commented on that.

Well, when I reviewed 'Power' I seem to remember saying it wasn't a bad album but was far from what Kansas did in the 70s. Reminds me of the 80s Yes albums, Trevor Horn style flash production work and all. Hardly like Bon Jovi though, even then.

Well, being Power a very weak album compared to Kansas 70's output, I'm
not surprised to see it compared to Bon Jovi, not that it sounds like
Bon Jovi, but the pop-rock orientation of the album is closer to Bon
Jovi's pop-rock orientation.

I don`t like Power much I only enjoyed a couple of tracks musicatto and Taking in the View ... the Ballad can`t cry anymore is a fine ballad but other than that the rest leaves me cold , its so 80`s sounding ... I much prefer in the spirit of things. Yes I can see the Bon Jovi connection theres a reason for this I feel , its because Steve Walsh and Billy Greer came from the band Streets to do Power and Streets to my way of thinking sounds a bit like Bon Jovi , basicaly hard rock without much that is progressive about them

I agree: it is unfair to underrate Kansas and Bon Jovi. Even if a musician is not a Progressive Rock musician he doesn`t deserve to be treated badly. They do their jobs to earn money to live.
"Power" is not a very good Prog Rock album because, IMO, Steve Walsh was/is a more Hard Rock oriented musician, and without Kerry Livgren, who was the main composer and the most Prog oriented musician in the band, there wasn`t a balance in the sound of the band. But, IMO, Steve Morse shines in "Power". He is a very good guitarist.
