All are welcome, padawans and masters alike, to share your appreciation for this living world of imagination. I'll start by saying I *love* the Clone Wars cartoons...

The Clone Wars cartoon shorts were awesome.I liked the way they showed you events that happened in the intervening years between the prequel movies.

Does anyone read the Star Wars EU(expanded universe)books?

Clone Wars was a great cartoon.

As far as literature goes, I've read Shadows of the Empire and a few other ones (Darksaber for one, which was great). I've also lightly touched upon the books that have Han and Leia's children as the protagonists (can't recall the names of the books, though).

I'm also a big enthusiast of the old Decipher card game.

No but I should look into those. Love the flexibility and expansiveness of the SW universe...nice to see you here, Progtologist, I was hoping you'd post.

I highly recommend these EU books:

Shatterpoint(Mace Windu)
I,Jedi(Corran Horn=Kieran Halcyon)
The Hand of Thrawn Trilogy
Shadow Hunter(Darth Maul)
The Bounty Hunter Wars trilogy
Shadows of the Empire
The entire X-Wing:Rogue Squadron series
The Hand of Thrawn duology
Dark Lord:The Rise of Darth Vader

I am about halfway through The New Jedi Order.

The Solo children start appearing around the time of the Corellian trilogy. There are the twins Jacen and Jaina and the youngest is Anakin Solo, who is eerily like his grandfather in many respects.

Wow, nice, I used to play that back when I was about 8 or so. Good times.

Never really understood the rules though, back then.
Very few people seem to remember that game.

Yeah, the only story I remember reading (I read a few of them when I was a lot younger) had this part where Han, Jacen, and Jaina (and maybe Leia or Anakin, not 100% certain) go to the remains of Alderaan to get a piece of the planet to give to Leia for her birthday and while there they run into Boba Fett.

Shadows of the Empire is the BEST Star Wars bookClap
The Thrawn Trilogy is great too, as is the Yuuzhan Vong series (new Jedi Order.) The last book is particularly fun, the ending is a bit strange thoughLOL

I like the way all the planets and unions combine to fight the Yuuzhan Vong, even the Chiss with their cool claw-craft.Smile

Awsome:

Didn't Boba Fett get eaten by the Sarlacc?

Well I can pinpoint the exact story, but I know he jetpacks himself out of the Sarlaac's belly and then steals Slave II, which is essentially a squarish version of Slave I.

He escaped from the Sarlacc's belly.

In the book of short stories called Tales from Jabba's Palace is a story called A Barve Like That:The Tale of Boba Fett.

The whole story is about what happened to Boba while in the Sarlacc and how he was able to eventually escape. It is extremely interesting,he did not escape unscathed. He was very badly burned and horribly disfigured and even after he escaped from the Sarlacc he was dying.

The first book in the Bounty Hunter Wars trilogy(The Mandalorian Armor),tells about how Dengar(another bounty hunter)found Boba dying on the sands of Tattooine and nursed him back to health and saved his life.

Hope I didn't give too much away.

Great to hear the recommendations-- some of it suggests other film or animation projects, I even remember rumors of there being a third trilogy post-RotS.

Oh, and why *are* there so few people that like the prequel films-- some actually hate it with a passion, but i though they were terrific- better in certain ways than the original movies.

It would be interesting to see the age demographic of the people that dislike the previous films.  I'll bet most of them are older folks who saw the original trilogy back when it came out. (They're probably also probably the majority of the people that can't stand the versions of the original trilogy that George Lucas changed up)

As for me, I don't care too much.  The first of the new trilogy was not too great, Jar Jar Binks is incredibly stupid.  The second one was definitely an improvement, I enjoyed this one, but still sort of corny.  As for the third one, this is definitely the best of the three.  I almost cried at the sequence when all the clones kill the jediGeekCry .I think that the PG-13 rating really helped, as it allowed George Lucas to do what he wanted with the movie and not have to take out potentially awesome parts to keep it PG.  It really decreased the corniness of the previous two films.  In my opinion, super-modern, amazing special effects + PG=Lame in many cases.

As for the new editions of the old films, I don't really care.  I've seen parts of the original versions, and truthfully, I prefer the new editions.  I'll easily put up with a small, pale, stupid-looking Jabba for one scene in order to watch a perfected Death Star (and Hoth!) scene.  I could care less if Lucas made it look like Greedo shot first, even though it does look kind of silly with Greedo missing Han at point blank range, and Han not even flinching at the shot.  It's five seconds of the movie.  I'll live.

I am 40,saw the original when it first came out,and love them all.I like the original versions of the OT,the new editions of the OT,and the prequels.

The weakest movie, imo,is The Phantom Menace.I think it was geared specifically at a young audience, probably because it is dealing with a 9 year old boy.Jar Jar didn't bother me as much as he did some fans, but he is my least favorite character,I found him quite annoying.

The pod racing scene,Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon's battle with Darth Maul and the battle for Naboo are awesome.

Actually those changes you mention, Sasquamo, really bothered me. First of all, the Greedo scene was ruined; Han shot first cause he's smart and he was a pirate...and we *wanted* him to shoot first 'cause we like him and it was fun. Completely ridiculous change and the decision to give Han 'ethics' was a mistake. Second, when Han has to walk around 'Jabba' and step over his tail, I nearly lost my lunch-- it wasn't even done well. So I think I]ll be getting the original version of Episode 4.

Agree with all that - though the opening scene in Menace is outstanding
