I got to spend last weekend with the KE Band in Chicago and Detroit. It was a total blast and I felt just like a teenager again. Actually I felt like the illegitimate daughter of divorced rock stars... but thats another issue...I'm not going to give you the play by play of the songlist...because basically I just enjoy the heck out of watching Keith play and love it when he looks like he’s having a good time. The music was rocking and the band seems to enjoy playing with each other and that’s what mostly matters.
The best thing is getting the photo pass and being able to watch the show right under the band. It was difficult for me seeing that they usually play to a vacant hall… about 200 to 400 in the arena for the first band, and most of the entire front section would be empty. At least it was in Chicago and Detroit. But the guys seem to be enjoying it, so I wish I could be there cheering them on every night…. As far as the band… I love Dave K… but even with a lead guitarist and a bassist, the band doesn’t sound as full as ELP. But maybe because they aren’t doing their own thing… I’m hoping to soon hear some original material from them. I’m thru with the Chicago pics.. so I’ll put these up first. Will do the Detroit later... So I'm going to show you what its like for the boys on tour... First the arrival...and the dressing room. I arrive with Dave K... and whats the first thing I see... The arrival of the master... The one who does all the work and takes such perfect care of me... Will Alexander.. who's actually preparing the night's pre-music on tape for the arena engineers. The bassist and drummer get some down time.. Then they get to work... the master practices alone... Dave K practices with me... Pete has computer work for a music class he teaches at home Phil goes over some new intro's... I got some great shots of the "getting dressed" scenes, but I'm not allowed to show them to you.... The concert... Keith still goes out in leather... but usually loses it by Tarkus.. Then back stage again... where I met Nick, the DJ, who wanted to know if I was Dave K's manager... I loved that one!!! And meeting Jeff from Tesla and his little daughter with some great motocycle boots.. Getting to cuddle with the master.... always the hightlight.... To the bus with Keith... Yep.. the Tour Bus, with leather couches, irritating miniture lights and a great cd player system over the microwave... The traveling home to 6 exhausted men... They travel at night and sleep on the bus mostly. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/Pebble/ELP/Keith%20Eme rson/Scorpions%20Tour/C-TourBus2.jpg So there's a little photo essay or what its like to be on the road with the KE Band... in Chicago anyway... I'll bring you Detroit tomorrow.... |

Thanks guys... it was a lot of fun!... Just to finish off my weekend, here's the Detroit photos... The arena where KE was to play was Cobo Hall.. and its next to the river.. so the busses for the KE Band, Tesla and the Scorpions were parked out back Cobo Hall next to the River... lovely location really... Backstage...evidently a Scorpions fan... Since most of these concert shots look the same from one venue to the next, I'll just post a couple of good ones.. Now the coolest thing about this show is that at one point Dave K sat down on the stage with his legs dangling over the stage right in front of me and I could touch him.. he continued to play and speak to me at the same time... Now that was cool... |
