I currently only own 1 asia cd (ASIA, self titled). I think their music is pretty good and was looking for some recomendations from fellow lovers of prog. Im fairly new to ASIA so am not sure where to start. Any tips/recomendations??
Long live progression.

That's as good as it gets:

Only Time Will Tell & Heat of The Moment.

Chuck the rest in the bin.

I was given a free copy of the Best Of Asia, send me a stamped adressed envelope covering the cost of delivery and you can have it!

Thanks Reedlover

I think i will give the rest of ASIA a miss then, I'll just stick with self titled album. Although i do really like one song from one of ASIA's newer albums (What about love). I have it on a promo cd i got free with classic rock magazine. Seems like i have all of ASIA's best songs already so i wont waste my money. I'll invest it in the entire genesis collection instead

I think this is an open close topic.

Long live progression.

Good call! You can't go wrong with Genesis!

If you liked Asia's first album, you might also like Boston's first album - I think it's great, even if it's not prog.

If you like Trespass, you'll LOVE Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot and Selling England By The Pound.

Haha wow... i think you'll find that Asia isn't too appreciated here.  Although their members constituted a prog rock all star line-up, they basically were just another synth-saturated pop machine that was short lived in the 80s. Their first the albums, Asia, Alpha, and Astra, are the albums released with the original John Wetton line-up, and each one is worse than the one that came before it. In the early 90s the keyboardist Geoffrey Downes reformed the group and began releasing more progressive material (so i've heard) and I guess they're still around doing that... although the current group is nothing compared to the 80s line-up with Palmer, Howe, Wetton, and Downes. If you're truly a hardcore prog rock fan, there's not much to get excited about here... but if you can handle some poppy arena rock, its not bad.

My favorite thing about the band is the Roger Dean artwork on the album covers

You have already the only Asia album that's worth your hard-earned cash, the rest is not interesting, maybe a "very best of" would be worth something, if you really insist on having another Asia product. but I strongly advice you not to.

Listen enjoy and cherish The Asia as you've now come to know. for the self-titled album is truly their very best.

The newer Asia is in the Toto style. Asia has never been very progressive, but I'll give them a listen long before much of the other 80s crap that raped the charts back then... If you fancy their synth sound give Saga a try. Everything before and including Behaviour is enjoyable.
