Letting Winamp pick albums to play is fun, except when it picks several in a row that I've either recently listened to or don't want to listen to.

Actually, I'm not sure if QC is hipster. It name dropped Thurston Moore, but then it also gave an explanation and completely misstated his place in music history.

But it's still sh*t.

I would have put on some Mingus if I wanted some great jazz. Wink

Sonic Youth is overrated.

I completely agree. But this comic said he invented scratchy guitar noise, which is ridiculous! Anybody who knows anything about that would know that's not true at all.

Zorn gets squeal happy sometimes(he is John Zorn after all), but it is more listenable than it was on Naked City. Other than that I haven't heard anything that would be considered overtly avant.

Ah, ok.  The only Zorn album I have so far is IAO, which to be honest isn't too interesting to me.  I need to check out some others of his 7.4 million projects.

Les Claypool projects are definitely what started my interest in avant/otherwise strange music.

Oh that? Psh. Take into consideration character attitudes and hyperbole much?

Me too. But I recommend Masada since I know you like jazz and avant. Smile
From Electric Masada, if you just want to hear the sweet, sweet guitar solo skip to part 2.

I'll check these out tomorrow probably, once Purple Onion's done I'm probably going to sleep.

I like Man vs. Wild better. I guess Bear Grills (I wish that was my name) is a better host. And he also gave himself an enema, so kudos to him.

I've never watched either show.  I'm picky with my TV anymore.

I'm picky anymore too. I just saw a clip of him giving himself an enema and thought "Gee, I definitely wouldn't do that."
