Langley Mill is one of the satellite towns of Nottingham, and Langley Mill Records is where I occasionally buy CD's from when I'm out and about that way. That's where I bought Marillion's Marbles CD from, so it's as good a place as any to look for Neo Prog albums.

Neither Brave nor Marbles are labelled/ tagged as Neo-Prog at RYM. See: https://rateyourmusic.com/artist/marillion For Brave:
For Marbles:
The Neo-Prog phase at RYM for Marillion is considered to be the 80s one, and I have seen that view echoed at PA as well. Here is an excerpt from the Neo-Prog description at RYM (see https://rateyourmusic.com/genre/neo-prog/ :

^^ So, let me get this straight... once, you managed to find a copy of a Marillion album in a small town outside Nottingham, therefore you think that if you bide your time, someone will deposit a moderately obscure, 20 year old Polish Neo album in the same place, when I've just shown you a cheap copy with free postage?
Paul, welcome to the mM prog bargain page... just knock yourself out: |

Yes, Langley Mill Records is one of the few independent record stores that's still around and it's a large store too. |

All your examples tell me, Paul, that there might not be so much consensus about the definition of Neo-Prog as I have thought it.

Yes, there is consensus. And there's nothing neo-prog about the bands mentioned above.

I wrote: "All your examples tell me, Paul, that there might not be so much consensus about the definition of Neo-Prog as I have thought it. " including your example in The Big Six - of the 80s? but I find PA's (and RYM's) definition to be a good one.

There never is but you keep banging on as if your 'different' opinion is as equally valid as the consensus of the rest of the site. How about give it a rest for a bit. It's getting tiring.

I agree, can we just set up a thread where Paul and Cristi disagree with each other without ever editing the posts they're quoting so they get longer and longer...

Then again, to be fair, I've seen some albums classified on PA as Neo-Prog which were something entirely different from the 80's Neo-Prog. For instance, Seeds on the Ground (2007) by the Chinese Cold Fairyland. And if I recognized this album as Neo-Prog, my Neo-Prog collection would increase 50% - btw, an album I'm very fond of, and it's something surely exceptionelt comparing to the usual Prog stuff .

Thanks Logan. I really need to Czech those bands out and Polish up on my knowledge of East European prog, as I'm always Hungary to expand my musical horizons. My current Polish playlist:- Abraxas; Collage; Quidam; Satellite; SBB
