The whole of Ireland in it's entirety is part of the British Isles. It is not a political distinction.

I'd say probably Northern, at least that's what I would consider the Scandinavian countries to fall under. Lovely country though. I was there a couple of years ago with my dad.

Bollocks. The Republic of Ireland has been independent from the UK since 1922. They fought for that autonomy and the distinction is recognised as a republic wef 1949 which transferred the remaining duties of a monarch to an elected president. What time tunnel did you come throughWink
