My second suggestion is also an instrumental. Go Go Machine Orchestra are from Taiwan. I suggested them for PA a few months back and it looks like they just cleared over at Awesomeprog.

They have two tracks on their album with a second version featuring Taiwanese saxophone player Minyen Hsieh. This is one of them.

Go Go Machine Orchestra - Atom (feat. Minyen Hsieh)

I have started listening to the suggested tracks and I am enjoying the variety.

On Greg's suggestions, sponsored by the letter S, Sprain is intriguing. I am still undecided on the vocals as that style often depends on my mood. I have in general been liking that arty post-punk style/sound that seems to getting some favor these days.

I am not that familiar with Susanne Sundfør's work. Her track is enjoyable but not standing out.

I have enjoyed Sufjan Steven's music over the years and this track holds up nicely. My favorite among Greg's suggestions as of now. I would like to hear it and the others within the scope of their respective albums if I have time. So much good music out there.

Yeah, I started listening and notating today.  Just made it through Greg's tracks, and noted yours, Christian's, and Kees into my word doc.  Busy week this week, but I find time here and there, scrinching up bits as my time allows.  Might be best to listen that way, anyway.  It's kind of funny to put forward "favourite albums," but have them represented by a song (although that is exactly what I do a lot of), and not have time to hear the whole albums.  However, the impetus to listen to more of those that catch my ear will certainly come out of this!

I've heard that Riverside track so much I probably know it off by heart.

Another track I love is Uriah Heep's - Hail The Sunrise. Makes me think of Spinal Tap but I do love them!

If the song was not great, you would not have known it by heart.
I'm not even done with posting songs, let alone choose a final song.

eMolecule - The Architect

the remnants of Sound Of Contact this has a more metal feel but keeps the sci-fi theme going. (and the singer does bare resemblance to Phil Collins, can't imagine why..)

Squeaky Feet - Little Bit Further

Some of the Sea Of Tranquility gang were picking this in their top five prog albums of the year, not a single mention on PA that I've seen.

Quote not a single mention on PA that I've seen

Because the band is not in the database.

Thanks for all of the submissions.

George, of the three of mine, Sufjan Steven's would be my choice too. As for Suanna Sundfor's tha songs had never impressed me much, but I was really enjoyed it the either day, and I did like the contrast it provided with the other two. I would think that some would think of my three entries as something of a sh*t sandwich, fairly palatable/ pleasant on the outsides and the inside (by Sprain) being very abrasive. I like Atom, by the way.

Frets N Worries: No frets nor worries, and I added "The Stardust Medley", which I had listened to before, to the playlist. I suggested about 10 minutes or less to make it easier to listen to music by others, but one need not listen to the initial suggestions anyway (that is optional), and some might mention more than others. I often adapt in these topics as I or others see potential improvements. Thinking about it now, I think it should be absolutely fine to mention longer tracks for the suggestion process, but I would like one to try to limit the actual nomination to a track of about ten or less minutes because I then ask people to check out all of the music. before voting for three (not your own choice). That does not mean you must always listen to every track in full if music clearly does not appeal, you might listen to the opening then bits throughout.

Richard: It's interesting to wake up and see you mention the Sea of Tranquility gang lists. I just read their albums of the year last night as I saw it linked to over at Progressive Ears (I don't post there yet) and was thinking how I shared none of the same choices. There are so many furrows to explore. If Squeaky Feet is not in PA and has not been suggested, then maybe it should be. That track seems pretty clearly to be Prog to me.

Referencing Hrychu's comment: One can vote on the awesomeprog list for non PA releases, and I mention ones in my list that are not in PA in the AOTY topic as well as in many places. Somebody has to be bring it up to have it included, and it seems no one has for that November, 17 release. had it come out earlier in the year then it is moire likely that it would have been suggested and talked about.

^Thanks! I'll check out all the songs before voting (in full, if able)

I was talking about the forum, I know it's not in the database Smile

Having listened to the full album (which I hadn't done before posting the vid) I'm not that impressed tbh so I can see why it's not picking up any mentions. Great playing and stellar guitar work especially but lacking a bit in ideas. Would fit in Jazz fusion no doubt though but I'm not suggesting it!

SOT don't tend to put a lot of 'alternative' music on their lists, no mention of your beloved Swans for instance and there is a lot of Norwegian/Scandi retro prog. I have to admire Luis for sticking up for Roger Waters DSOTM redux. He is literally the only person I've come across that had done that! I quite like the banter element of their discussions and to be fair occasionally you do get a good recommendation although nowhere near as much as here. IMO
