4 stars Being one of the most representative emblems of progressive rock and with enough study material available and already very well, incidentally by then (it was published until Foxtrot), it is curious that they didnīt find it interesting to publish a double album in alive, and they have been limited to a version of a single disc, as commented at that time by the lack of interest in the United States market.

Genesis Live is a very good job, in which there is no place for further improvisations and where the songs are masterfully executed, following the guidelines of the original albums. Probably, and within the homogeneity of the work, the highest points are Musical Box, sharp and more dynamic than the version of the Nursery Cryme and The Knife, more powerful than in the Trespass.

The sections in which Peter Gabriel explained their meaning before each song were cut out. But definitely the exalted virtuosity of the musicians, especially Tony Banks on keyboards, Steve Hacket on guitars and Gabriel on vocals, confirm that they were in one of their best moments, confirmed months later with the release of their extraordinary Selling England By The Pound.

Genesis Live would have earned many additional points if they had included a few more songs, the Supper's Ready suite for example, one of their capital songs and that was played during that tour.

In short, it is a very good album, but I still feel that it could and should have been more extensive.
