Here is a poll about my favourite band.

Well, they are not purely "ballads", but I guess mellow and lush enough.

I kindly request from the people who are not into metal music to listen to them and vote, if they feel like doing.

Thanks!

Definitely the Accolade. Then again, I'm not sure I'd call it a ballad, considering how much it picks up in speed for those verse and chorus sections

Accolade all the way; the only thing better is part 2 on The Odyssey IMHO; "On the field with sword and shield..." It's like Legend of Zelda/Final Fantasy + metal.

Fallen is the highlight track of V for me, absolute banger.

Can't vote in this poll, but was listening to TDWOT for the first time last night (first listen to anything by Symphony X!) and thought it sounded fantastic!  I actually saw the band support DT back in 2009 (Systematic Chaos tour) in Newport leisure centre, but didn't pursue them despite being a big DT fan.  Loving the guitar/keys interplay, and The Accolade was lovely....

I clearly need to get into this band LOL

Paradise Lost is their best ballad - well it would be if Jens Bogren didn't f**k up the production Angry

Anyway, for this one, Communion and the Oracle.

Communion and the Oracle. It contains the turning point of the album, which is so poetic both lyrically and musically. It's right when he sings "Let the Sky and Stars be your guide,
the destination is up to you". The Accolade doesn't even come close IMHO.
