*SPOILERS FOLLOW*
These are three bad ass sorcerers in American cinematic fantasy from the 1980s.

Queen Bavmorda of Nockmaar destroyed both Galadoorn and the renown city of Tir Asleen in, like a week.  She also turned an entire army into pigs at a whim.  But she was ultimately destroyed by a baby and a peck's parlor trick.  Still, Madmartigan must be relieved his mother-in-law is dead.  Think of what summer BBQs would be like.

Also, she has General Kael, one of the most bad ass warriors in all of the 1980s:

Skeletor of Snake Mountain craves ruling all of Eternia.  In the 80s, he actually took over Castle Grayskull.  He seeks to destroy He-Man while absorbing the power of the universe, which he does in some measure, at which point he becomes the golden clad warrior that still loses to He-Man.

After transformation:

But the way he handles Saurod (this guy), I'd hate to be his enemy.

Thulsa Doom is the necromancer and enemy of Conan.  He is more like the comic character Thoth-Amon, an Egyptian-esque serpent character, but he is all 1980s fantasy evil.  He even commands a woman to jump of a cliff to prove her loyalty to him.

He may also transform into a serpent:

Thulsa Doom. The subtle magics that befuddle the mind are so hard to battle. With Bavmorda or Skeletor you can see their physical magic assaults comming and contend with them. You can't dodge or block words though.

But how wide-sweeping was that power?  Bavmorda petrified Tir Asleen, and she didn't go there personally.

Hmm. True enough. The ability to affect wide swaths of creation is pretty terrifying.  I agree it would definatly be harder to kill her in a fight. I still think I'd be more scared of the Doom. At least with Bavmorda you know you are going to fight and can bend you entire will towards that end instead of having your will bent for you.

Not sure if you're serious or dismissing him because of the fact he was a Comic Book villain.

Where's The Lord of Darkness from Ridley Scott's Legend?
(though I guess he's not really a sorcerer)

Ghost Rider with no scooter?  He's pretty cool looking. But then I have a thing for skulls... flaming or not. In any case I think he's dismissed because the the poll title includes the word "film".

I was dismissing him because the thread topic is "Sorcerers of 80s American Films."  Wink
