Post your top 10 of prog bands whose output in the 21st century you find to be the strongest.
In my case, I'm going to exclude artists who have left some mark in the 00s/10s but have a bigger portion or the majority of great records before the turn of the century, like Dream Theater (most great records were in the 90s) or Discipline (one of the two strong albums released in the 90s, the other, while amazing, not great enough to justify being included in the top 10). However, 21st century Magma is just as good, if not better, than 70s Magma, so I feel their place in the list is reasonable in spite of being associated with the roots of prog and zeuhl. My list, no specific order within: Wobbler Magma Birds and Buildings Phideaux Porcupine Tree Opeth IQ maudlin of the Well Mastodon Anekdoten |

The following list is based on favourite 21st century albums (not necessarily the bands themselves): EDIT: I just realised that I had forgotten Wobbler, which should go in 6th position. Edited by I prophesy disaster - September 12 2020 at 16:59 |

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

I suppose it doesn't really matter but The Dillinger Escape Plan, Beardfish and Porcupine Tree are no longer around. Neither is the Mars Volta (although you didn't list them).

I would tend to agree with this list as far as popularity goes although there might be a few others you could list such as the Tangent and Big Big Train. If more metallish bands are what you are after or more mainstream (both tend to have better album sales)then a few others would be Coheed and Cambria, Muse, Between the Buried and Me, Mastodon, King Gizzard and the lizard wizard and others. Magma are an older band though so for me I would sooner list Rush, Flower Kings, Spock's Beard and Glass Hammer.

Surprised Big Big Train isn't mentioned. I'd definitely plop them in the top ten.
