I discovered this great band from my area called "Godspeed You! Black Emperor" and I'm looking to buy one of their albums. Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven is already on its way and I was told F#A# ∞ was also a must-buy. I heard the original vinyl edition was significantly different from the CD version, which one should I get?

Thanks!

"Larks' tongues. Wrens' livers. Chaffinch brains. Jaguars' earlobes. Wolf nipple chips. Get 'em while they're hot. They're lovely. Dromedary pretzels, only half a denar."

The vinyl version has a locked groove, it's infinite, but if you take out the infinite loop the album is just 38 minutes long.

The CD version is longer, it's 63 minutes long, but it doesn't have the locked groove.

(Most of) the field recordings annoys me on that album so easier to skip with the CD.

Check out Yanqui UXO, their best imo and all instrumental.

Well, I got Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven and oh god do I love it!! Certainly the best album I received in months, the first track simply blew me away!

Concerning which version of F#A# Infinity I'll be getting, I think I'm just gonna buy both and then see which one I prefer. Definitely gonna check out their other albums soon!

Lift Your Skinny Fists is the best post rock album ever, or in the top 2 at least. Simply brilliant. And F#A# isn't too far behind.
I shook my head and smiled a whisper knowing all about the place

A single album could have made Skinny one of the best ever...but this double interminable beast is only half-brilliant afaic.

^ I personally consider both sides to be about as equally sublime. As you can notice with my new avatar, it's now one of my favourite albums ever!

Have to disagree on that.  It's a double album that deserves to be a double!
