After several months of utter fail I have decided to relaunch my Wound With List project as a podcast. Knowing my ability to see these sorts of things through it'll last three episodes tops before running out of steam, but here goes anyway: http://woundwithlist.podomatic.com/
All comments and constructive criticism greatly appreciated. Apologies for the mediocre sound quality during the links, not a lot I can do about that right now. |

Zorn is brilliant, and amaaaazingly prolific - that is, there's a lot of different stuff to chose from! Some of it I adore, others I can def. do w/ out [don't like his screaming, or too abstract noise]! |

He is indeed brilliant, but I don't care for his early work. It's basically just haphazard squealing noise. |

I used to go see him a lot [probably before you were born ;)] in the early '80s, playing in basements on the Lower East Side for a few bucks. I recall one improv he did w/ Frith... Afterwords, when asked what I thought, I semi cupped my hand in my lap and ... You get the picture ;) |

I listened to the first half of it and you're doing pretty good. You've got a good voice for this kind of thing, it seems to me. Some of the music was pretty out there, and I like to think that I'm open to stuff that's "out there" - I got NWW's "Livin' Fear of James Last" compilation of Wayside while it was on sale, and it's just as out there, so I'm not too surprised. XD Some of it is the kind of music that takes a few dedicated listens to even know what you just heard.

Oh, absolutely. Some of it is a really tough listen, even for avant-heads like us! That's one of the reasons I decided to go for short 30-45 minute episodes - any longer and I doubt anyone would make it through an entire edition! Thanks for the reassurance on the voice, by the way - I was feeling pretty bunged up whilst recording the links and was paranoid that I sounded all nasal and icky. |

I'll pass on the good news I received over at Facebook:
All three sound like they're going to be completely awesome, I've listened to the samples...I think Strave will be my biggest draw though. |

Not sure, haven't heard anything official about that one yet that I can remember. I got lucky and grabbed a copy of it right before the last version disappeared, so if there is a new reissue of it in the works I don't know if I'll get it...unless it's something very special.

Trouserpress: The Wound with List podcast was very interesting, looking forward for more of this.
By the way Älgarnas Trädgård were Swedish, not Finnish :) Pekka Airaksinen was totally unknown to me, even if I am a Finn. If you liked Pekka, you might like this, Haare very noisy avant-garde freakout electronic music, a bit in the same vein. It used to be a sample on Julian Cope's site, but it seems to have been removed. Edited by Rottenhat - March 13 2011 at 14:04 |

I just received "Scherzoo - 01," one of the new SZ releases - it's Francois Thollot's new band. It is immensely, immensely friggin' Hot!!! I advise anyone interested to take a listen, I seriously doubt they will be less than blown away.....;)

Does anyone have any recommendations for me?
Here's is some RPI / avantprog stuff that I thoroughly enjoy:
Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso (esp Darwin!), Biglietto Per L'inferno, Univers Zero, Quella Vecchia Locanda, Le Orme, Bubu, Present, Il Balletti Di Bronzo, P.F.M., Il Castello Di Atlante, R.R.R., Il Bacio Della Medusa, Devil Doll, and Goblin.
My other musical tastes include: Amon Duul II, Hawkwind, Popol Vuh, King Crimson, Eloy, Gentle Giant, First Band From Outer Space, Hidria Spacefolk, Oresund Space Collective, 35007, Earthless, Steve Hillage, Hypnos 69, Diagonal, Acid Mothers Temple, Birds & Buildings, Subarachnoid Space, Scorpions (70's releases only), old Judas Priest (70's only), Nektar, Black Widow (Sacrifice), ELO, Brainticket, A.R. & Machines, Circus 2000, 2066 & Then, My Solid Ground and Rush!
So now that you know what music stirs the cauldren of my mind, please give me some recommendations of some excellent RPI, dark prog, heavy RPI prog, space prog, spacey trippy rock, modern, classic, whatever. Post or email me. [email protected]
If you've never heard of any of the above mentioned bands, you seriously need to check them out. Many have mp3's here in Prog Archives. This site is an absolute godsend!!!

You like RIO/Avant and RPI? You definitely need to check out Yugen, then. I strongly recommend their new album Iridule.
