Omega, Illes, Lokomotiv GT and Piramis are not considered here. Only the more current breed. Hungary has a good prog scene and a fab store in Budapest (Periferic Records) . Check it outWink

I'm familiar only with After Crying (voted for them), East (nothing special) and Solaris (very good).

As much as i try to show support to your polls, Thomas and try to push  them  to page 10, i am of no help on this one. My last adventure in Hungary ( ah! summer days in Balatonfured) goes back to 1980 and all the members of the bands listed here might not have been born yetThumbs%20UpLOL

Well, there is certainly ample reason to sample and taste (Hungarian food is yummy) . Solaris, After Crying and East are well known, Varga is an amazing guitarist , D Sound has 2 spacey albums, Colorstar is bizarre and Korai Orom more like Ozric /Hidria territory. Townscream is an After Crying offshoot and Inkabb Holnap is almost fusion . Time to drink from the fountain of youth and get cracking!

Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

Solaris is excellent and Janos Varga Project as well. But where is Omega, missing from the list, the prog legend of Hungary.Confused

If you read the very beginning of my thread, I purposely omitted Omega, Illes, Lokomotiv GT and Piramis.
None of these acts are "current" but rather solid mainstays of Magyar rock and rightly so. I just wanted to focus on more recent endeavors. C'mon everybody , all of the listed have made splendid music. Big%20smile

Well Thomas, I love Omega their 2-live LP entitled Live At The Kiss Stadion and live DVD Szuperconcert and I am delighted about the Holy Trinity of flute, guitar and keyboards in Solaris their music, my favorite is the 2-LP 1990.

A good DVD is The Wings Of Revalation by Janos Varga Project, very varied and dynamic guitar work and 2 keyboard players.

I miss one band: You And I, new band, performed in Holland on the Progfarm Festival.

I voted for Solaris Clap

I'm completely unfamiliar with "Rather Tomorrow"(the last band on the list).
For  me After Crying and Solaris are the best Hungarian bands.

Actually, Solaris got started in 1979, and in the mid 80s After Crying was on the verge of becoming a real item, so... you shouldn't feel so old.

I also voted for SOLARIS. Also, the spin-offs (Musical Witchcraft and the late guitarist's solo album) are excellent.
