Topic: Papadosio: Psychedelic/ Space rock? Posted: December 23 2016 at 11:10
There isn't really a perfect sub genre for Papadosio, as they combine many styles, but I think perhaps either psychedelic/ space rock, or crossover would fit them well. They are mostly instrumental and feature a lot of improvisation live, and sometimes feature pop-ish vocals.
Here is their bio on Last.Fm:
Papadosio is a five member band from Athens, Ohio. The band members are: Anthony Thogmartin on guitar, keys, vocals; Billy Brouse on keys and vocals; Mike Healy on drums; and Rob McConnell on bass, vocals and a recent new addition of Sam Brouse on keys and vocals as well.
While they are most often classified as a jam band, their music spans many genres and it all has an original edge. Papadosio is a one of a kind, earthy, livetronica act. They are very much in favor the evolution of humanity, in terms of love for one another and this earth, and this all shines through in their music. They have some funky basslines and awesome audio engineering my thogmartin and brouse. In combination, their sound definitely gets people moving and stirs some souls.
They have a website at papadosio.com
They just released their forth studio album (which has definitely shifted in the direction of math rock), but I think they are best known for their second album, a double LP called T.E.T.I.O.S.
They are very popular at jam rock festivals and I was surprised to see they weren't already on here! Thanks for reading

thanks, they are already on our evaluation list, but as you state, their music spans many many genres ...
I personally like this band, as I like Umphrey's McGee or Tauk, who are somewhat similar in attitude Don't think they fit the psych/space genre at best, would prefer crossover, but this may take another while ...
