VOICE OF THE SEVEN WOODS One man (Rick Tomlinson) and his sitar. As exotic as a stroll down the Kasbah with the warm smell of camel dung rising up through the air. ![]() ![]() |

WATER INTO WINE BAND Sandals, scandals and holy candles..... The Water into Wine Band were a charming quartet of long-haired, sandal-wearing Jesus freaks who burned briefly but brightly, but didn't manage to gather much sustenance in their collecting bowl and quickly melted away amidst scandals and changing lifestyles in the fading happy-clappy Jesus movement. Prayer mats and rosary beads are optional. ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - March 09 2025 at 04:00 |

THE WATERBOYS If you're wondering how The Waterboys ended up in a Prog Folk blog, then you may not have heard their folky Fisherman's Blues and Room to Roam albums. Some of the best of British Prog Folk has already featured here, including Fairport Convention, Jethro Tull, Pentangle and the Strawbs et al, but I want more than that.... I want The Whole of the Moon! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - March 15 2025 at 05:18 |

THE WAY WE LIVE I know this Rochdale duo are meant to be Prog Folk, but for some bizarre reason the first track "King Dick II" reminds me of Black Sabbath - or am I just being Paranoid. ![]() ![]() |

It looks like the Fallen By Watch Bird in the photo has fallen under her spell, or maybe it's just contemplating making a nest in Jane's hair. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

KATHRYN WILLIAMS Sad songs for all those lonely people..... You'd have more fun attending a house party hosted by Nick Drake and Sylvia Plath. Kathryn's first album was made on a budget of just £80, which'd buy about 15 minutes of studio time at Abbey Road. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

ROBIN WILLIAMSON From the warbling tones of Robin Williamson comes a string of less than incredible solo albums that are just a Myrrh trifle compared to his works with the Incredible String Band. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - March 23 2025 at 00:25 |

WITHERED HAND The pseudonym of Scottish Indie Folk musician Dan Willson, who - For What It's Worth - sounds like a poor man's version of Neil Young, only without Neil's talent or wealth. Dan Willson was raised as a Jehovah's Witness, so he's probably knocked on a few doors in his time, but fame and fortune are unlikely to come knocking any time soon.

THE WOODS BAND If you can't see the Woods for the Trees in the Forest when it comes to Prog Folk, then check out The Woods Band, formed in Ireland by two early members of Steeleye Span, Terry & Gay Woods, who appeared together on Steeleye Span's first album: Hark! The Village Wait. Terry & Gay left Maddy Prior's band of merry minstrels behind to form their own folk band, which was so good, they named it after themselves. ![]() ![]() |

WYRDGENES Something for the weirdy-beardy Viking types amongst us..... This is Nordic Folk Metal with attitude, the likes of which you may not have heard before, unless you happen to live in Scandinavia. Wyrdgenes is the alter ego of one George Edgelander, who lives on a sheep farm in the remote hills of Northumbria and who's so reclusive, he makes Mike Oldfield look like the life and soul of the party by comparison, so don't expect him to be performing a concert near you any time soon. ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - March 23 2025 at 04:55 |

Well, that finally wraps things up for Prog Folk Britannia, 15 months, 277 artists and 1534 albums later, and all of that just so I could include Mostly Autumn on a Prog Folk playlist.

ABSOLUTE ELSEWHERE Blasting off into orbit with the first artist on the Space Rock playlist, we're travelling back in time now In Search of Ancient Gods with this absolutely fabulous sci-fi concept album from one Paul Fishman, based on the other-worldly books of Swiss author Erich von Daniken, who believes the Earth was once visited by ancient alien astronauts. Erich von Daniken was the David Icke of his day, although he didn't claim to be the son of God or believe the earth is ruled by a hybrid race of reptilian shape-shifters. ![]() ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - 19 hours 52 minutes ago at 10:01 |

AMPLIFIER Tense nervous headache? Want something that'll lessen the pounding brain pain? In that case then, you'd better give Amplifier a wide berth and take a Disprin tablet instead. British band Amplifier play their music loud and proud with amps that go all the way up to eleven. Well, what did you expect with a band name like Amplifier!? What you hear is what you get. They're exactly what it says on the label. And you thought Spinal Tap were loud!? No, you ain't heard nothing yet, although the all-out assault on the eardrums does slacken off a bit with Amplifier's fourth album, "Echo Street" (hence the 4-star rating). With that said though, this slammin' piledriving band are Porcupine Tree with knobs on! It's enough to wake Lemmy of Motorhead from his grave. If you fancy something a little more mellow, then try listening to Burt Bacharach instead, as you won't find it here. This is as loud as Space Rock gets, so don't say I didn't warn you. And so, onto the kaleidoscopic video below..... Enjoy the Rainbow Machine light show. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

ANTA Avon calling! It's all star-ship-shaped and Bristol fashion for a homegrown Space Rock band from England's Avon region.
