This is part three where I take the albums on PA's 1960's charts and include Proto-Prog and Prog Related. I thought people might be interested to see the charts with Proto-Prog and Prog Related included, and this would be a fun and rather interactive (one interacts with the poll at least by voting) way to present it. I have known some people at the forum who have taken a particular interest in such things. Also, it demonstrates that the 60s were awesome! If it needed any demonstrating that is. And a very progressive time for music -- so much innovation, evolution and creativity. It was a very fertile time for musical exploration. I will want to do a fourth poll for the 60s because there are many really great albums that have not made the top 75. At 76 is Terry Riley's great In C, and the greatness just continues...

here is the chart CLICK

So many great albums for me in this list. Ten of my favourites are (in poll order) while only mentioning one per act and I know and like almost all albums in the poll:

High Tide - Sea Shanties
Miles Davis - Filles de Kilimanjaro
Renaissance - Renaissance
Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band - Safe as Milk
It's A Beautiful Day - It's A Beautiful Day
David Axelrod - Song of Innocence
H.P. Lovecraft - H.P. Lovecraft II
Pink Floyd - A Saucerful of Secrets
Jefferson Airplane - After Bathing At Baxter's
The Pentangle - The Pentangle

Choosing just one is kind of ridiculous, but I decided to go that way before and will stick with it. Even though it will get plenty of attention, I will go with Floyd's. that said, the Axelrod, Beefheart and others are calling for my vote. Ah, well, a no-brainer poll tends not to be a great poll for me -- I commonly like the ones best where I have a variety to comment on enthusiastically even if the choosing itself I am not comfortable or confident with.

And while I would not expect limited familiarity from many forum regulars who would consider taking part, most of us being into classic stuff methinks, feel free to vote with limited familiarity. And feel free to mention anything you don't like in the poll. It does need to be all be rainbows and unicorns. :)

There's only two albums I dislike in this poll (you can probably guess which two) and the remaining 23 poll entries are all rainbows and unicorns albums for me. Smile

Too many incredible albums to sort through! Voted Song of Innocence though I LOVE 90% of the albums listed here!

Not quite as good for me as the other two polls, there are many here I don't know. My vote goes to Trout Mask Replica with Renaissance and Pink Floyd next.

True, and Paul likes 'Metal Fatigue' (one of the ones Ian hates).

Saucerful of Secrets. Far beyond this post dwells a washing machine that has to shave off a beard every three hours.

I do indeed, I subscribe to the 'Allan Holdsworth is a brilliant guitarist but all his best stuff is as a sideman' theory.

I agree with that Ian.

Not a difficult poll with Pink Floyd's masterpiece in there. Plus I really struggle with Proto Prog for the most part.

Nice poll and an interesting chart, which reminds me of a ton of great albums that might require revisiting soon! In any case, I will follow-up the "Saucerful" of votes for Floyd... but one thing one might ask is how do you include Proto-Prog and Prog-Related in a chart? Wacko

I go for Pink Floyd, but there's a lot of good things in the list.
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution
