To get the last of these out of the way... I hope no one kills me for leaving off Zopp from my poll which I know has many fans. I liked Zopp with the debut then later I didn't care for the debut or the latest. On second thought, I will include Zopp by doubling up with Zombi. Under Z I also doubled-up Zaal and Zaar. I doubled more to include more Ys. Such doubling is inelegant, but ultimately I'm like, "Y not Zee going for it?" You can vote for one of those acts in the poll option or both -- please specify in a post.
My longer lists: Yatha Sidhra * Yellow Magic Orchestra * Yeti Yezda Urfa * Yo La Tengo * Yog Sothoth * Yokai * Yolk * Yonin Bayashi * Thom Yorke Tatsuya Yoshida * Larry Young * Yugen * Zaal * Zaar * Thierry Zaboitzeff * Zamla Mammaz Manna * Zao * Zanov * Frank Zappa (and The Mothers/ Mothers of Invention) * Zarathustra * Joe Zawinul * Zed * Wulf Zendik (Zendik Farm Orgaztra) * Ziyo ZNR * Zombi * John Zorn * Zopp * Zwoyld * Zygoat * Zypressen * If applicable, please choose three acts, or more, or less, from this poll of some of my favourites to vote on and mention in a post, and please mention any of your own favourites. I encourage commentary and discussion on any that you think apply. I think that the only one of these in the poll not in PA is Yo La Tengo. I've known it for considerable years, and its album This Stupid World made my top albums list for 2023. The Indie Rock, Post-Rock and Krautrock qualities on it make me put it under the Prog umbrella. Here are the past polls: 25 "W" List Acts & 17 "V" List Acts and 8 "X" Rated Acts & 8 "Q" and 18 "U" List Acts & 26 "T" List Acts & 25 "S" List Acts & 25 "R" List Acts & 28 "P" List Acts & 27 "O" List Acts & 27 "N" List Acts & 25 "M" List Acts & 25 "L" List Acts & 25 "K" List Acts & 25 "I and J" List Acts & 25 "H" List Acts & 29 "G" List Acts & 26 "F" List Acts & 25 "E" List Acts & 26 "D" List Acts & 25 "C" List Acts & 25 "B" List Acts & 25 "A" List Acts Thanks to all who commented on music during this series. :) Thanks to those who considered my choices, mentioned others, and of course did both. |

Easier than most other letters. A clear personal top three + seven more that has brought me listening joy - or a nice challenge:
Frank Zappa (and The Mothers/ Mothers of Invention) Zao Zanov - Thom Yorke* Yatha Sidhra Zypressen Yog Sothoth Yugen Yellow Magic Orchestra John Zorn *because Radiohead and The Smile are featured separately. Thom's solo projects are very respectable and sometimes amazing, but not really essential to me. |

Again, sadly none of the above I'm afraid... however beside the really obvious, I could only vote for Zero Hour & Finn Zierler here... neither of whom get much of a listen these days.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

After Zappa, the only "Z" on my iPod classic is Zebra...I thought they were going to be big after their first album, but then they fizzled. I think they got lost in MTV...

If I look at my 64 GB iPod Touch, which does not hold its charge and I stopped using quite a few years ago, under Z is Zanov, Zheng Jun Mian & Li Hong, Zhou Xian, ZNR and The Zodiac. Under Y is Yan Tregger, Yatha Sidhra and Yugen.
I never categorised it right, so, say, Frank Zappa is under F. From the poll, I will choose Zao, Zanov and Yatha Sidhra |

^ Not that into Zaal despite having it in your collection? As I notice you only mentioned voting for Frank Zappa.

Zebra had the fastest-selling debut in Atlantic's history at the time of release. Yeah, they should've been a lot bigger. The second album enjoyed exposure with a couple singles/videos, but 3.V took on water and sank like a stone. It shouldn't have, since Triumph's "Somebody's Out There" enjoyed regular rotation and that was a hit. |

I might do one more of these at some time ere long covering some of the less obvious, lesser-known or talked about at PA releases that have been covered by people other than me throughout this series. But I would want to famialiarise myself a bit with the music first. And I might cover some silly omissions, like missing Oriental Wind not one but twice if thinking Oriental Wind for O and thinking Okay Temiz and Oriental Wind for T. I should've checked my old iPod for this series but I do like to focus on music that is still very relevant to my particular interests right now. 10 years ago I was mostly listening to different stuff regularly. 10 years before that I mostly was listening to other stuff than then and so on.... It is the most current of tastes in people that tend to interest me the most, including music that people got into fairly recently. These polls do cover music I have known for many decades and some only quite recently. Edited by Logan - September 20 2024 at 18:23 |

The biggest one that might make some people scratch their heads with "Y would you leave it out?", especially those who know little of my interests, is Yes. It's not one of my particular favourites (I like Fragile the most of its albums), but also, I didn't even think of it for this poll. Some say it's better to leave the biggest names of the polls anyway... Course Zappa is here. As ever, the commentary and amicable discussion means more to me than the votes themselves. And this series was meant to be not just about what I include in the poll, but about what others appreciate and would like to give some attention to and discuss.

I’d noticed that Yes had been left out, but thought better not to make a drama of it…..
Yes, it’s not only Paul that can do bad humour😌 |

Have I been absent for the forum for very long or have you become quite impatient with posting the last letter polls?
