Hey David, just wondering if you are familiar with the Cyclobe album Wounded Galaxies Tap at the Window? If you are digging the new Zu it may just connect.

I hadn't heard of your top album.  After listening to Son, I definitely like it!

Riverside
SWilson should have something later in the year

Thats because a lot of new music is recorded like sh*t still...sadly.
However, there was a few Jośe that were great records and recorded very well.

The main 2 I can say that are truly great

Unreal City--Frammenti Notturni
Lunatic Soul-- Fracture

I highly recommend these titles to you, my friend.
Great headphone listens as well. :)
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

Just heard the Wobbler album. Wow oh wow. Where the hell did this come from? An incredible throwback masterpiece, exactly how I like them. Deserves every point of its sky-high average rating in the database. God bless these guys for making this record.

^ yeah its easily going to win album of the year. Also last time I looked it had an average ratings (based on about 200) of about 4.59 which is insane.

^The average ratings don't say everything. Hair in a G-string has been on #1 or #2 of the 2016 list from the start, but it was ranked #18 in 2016's AotY list. Nevertheless I think Wobbler will win this edition hands down. And well-deserved, methinks (though I put two albums above From Silence to Somewhere). It appears in almost every list I have seen.

I've seen the early lists and its going to win for sure although I put Magenta, BBT (The Second Brightest Star) , Roger Waters and Dave Kerzner ahead of it in my list. It's been a good year imo.

I know this is last minute for peeps making AOTY, but if you're into instrumental symph prog with flute, mellotron and the works, then I highly recommend you go check out Spanish Kotebel's Cosmology over at bandcamp: https://kotebel-music.bandcamp.com/album/cosmology

Like Wobbler, Dungen, Tusmřrke (another band that released great music this year btw), Causa Sui, Papir, Agusa, Gösta Berlings Saga, Hooffoot, Our Solar System, Les Big Byrd, Paatos, Elephant9 and a lot of other Scandinavian acts, Kotebel too employs an old school analogue production...and I just love that.
I'd love for Black Widow records to take a leaf or two from the Scandinavian production book now that I think of it.

Yeah, I bet that "Art Zoyd" Box set is "Something Else".    I'm 4/20.

Just spinning that Kotebel album and on closer inspection it seems the production actually is quite modern. What I like about it though, and what made me think of those Scandinavian bands, is that instruments sound like instruments being played live in the studio.

So many have the new Accordo dei Contrari album on their lists. I need to have another listen.
