Itīs Yes to me. Genesis best albums are better than Yes best albums, but Yes hasnīt made such a horrible album as Calling All stations is. And Yes eighties were much better than Genesis. | </span><br style="line-height: 16.5455px;"><br style="line-height: 16.5455px;"><span style="line-height: 16.5455px;">For me it's the other way around... actually, for me there's no 5 star masterpiece from Genesis, mostly because they had to include at least one stinker on every album, at least from their classic era, after that they may not necessarily have included a stinker, but the selection in general wasn't as stellar either. However, the closest to being a 5 star album for me would be Selling England, but Battle of Eping Forest just ruins it. On the other hand, Yes does have Fragile and Close to the Edge, which for me are the pinnacle of prog. | </span><div style="line-height: 16.5455px;"> <div style="line-height: 16.5455px;">Laughing so hard because I agree 100% about Genesis ruining perfection with a single bad track each record...but I just fell in love with Epping Forest and it's one of my faves now! I've been playing and singing it all damn week. "A pin up GURU every week!" "More Fool Me" is the track that ruins it's perfection for me.<div style="line-height: 16.5455px;"> <div style="line-height: 16.5455px;">I agree about Close to The Edge/Fragile being at the head of the prog table. | Yeah, More Fool Me isn't a particularly memorable song on that album... but it's short and inoffensive enough that it can just pass by without harming my apreciation for it... Battle on the other hand, it's just too annoying and long.

Love both bands but I went with Yes. I feel like their best material was stronger then Genesis best but I can see an argument for both.

I love them both equally. Each was groundbreaking, influential, distinct, and important in my life. They are not in competition for my affection or respect--they both have them in full (much like my children). They are artists, not athletes, so there is no objective criteria to measure their relative merit. A+ bands, for my tastes!
