I love Welcome to the Machine, but I have to say 'Dark Side' seeing as I don't like 'Shine on you crazy diamond'
Just drags on and on

Was thinking about this the other day, and Dark Side is way better (WYWH is a masterpiece too though). There's something for everyone in Dark Side, which is probably why it had so many album sales and stayed in the charts for 15 years or whatever it was, but the follow-up in comparison lacked some substance and a real purpose for me. Anyway...

That's the beauty of it For me it's a draw: today I say WYWH and tomorrow I'll say DSOTM

Heresy, but my feelings exactly.
Welcome to the Machine and Wish You Were Here are great, the rest is........ordinary.
Dark Side is a bit mixed, but much more cohesive as an album and the best bits are sensational.

Wish You Were Here. I like the open spaces on that one. Really evokes a sense of loneliness, of "absence" (one of the album's themes).

Two of my favorites. DSOM is the acknowledged classic. But, I gravitate much more strongly to WYWH. My vote goes to WYWH.

WYWH easily. Perhaps my very favourite album of all (it's rather difficult to say for sure anymore, though). It would have been a bit more difficult for me to choose if it had been against Animals.
