I'm currently listening to Moon Safari's The Gettysburg Address. An excellent live album from an excellent band. great symphonic prog with brilliant vocal harmonies.
I also recommend Riversea's Out Of An Ancient World

I recommend DEAD CAN DANCE.
They are without any doubt in My mind, the best Art Rock band I've ever listened to. The style is enveloped with in a new age, ambient/electronic, midevil, middle eastern and gothic sound that will captivate and mystify a lot of seasoned prog listeners. Albums to get started on would be.... 1) IN THE REALM OF A DYING SUN 2) ANASTASIS 3) THE SEPEANTS EGG |

Incubus - science (psychedelic alternative metal)
Forgive Durden - razia's shadow (if you like the dear hunter, its basically a musical)
Silverchair - diorama (very orchestral and catchy, but also proggy in its progressions) Edited by ProgEpics - January 12 2013 at 11:42 |

Really cool new album.....symphonic/classical tinged Goth with female vocals, powerful and beautiful guitars too.
You can stream samples here or on bandcamp. http://www.viaobscura.de/ |

^Yeah, I am definitely going to check them out - thanks Jim.
And thank you for a great review. You are still one of the best around these parts my friend. I also happen to think your recent Caress of Steel one was a real humdinger, although you seem to think otherwise. Pish posh - have yourself a warm and heartfelt clappy from yours truly

Frank, that is fantastic! I had the same experience..... thought it was just wonderful. I'm frankly really surprised more people haven't discovered them. Hope you get a chance to review them too. |

Doctor Jimmy recommended Mutantes about 30 pages back which I looked for but couldn't find but I did come across
Not the same I'm sure, preview on amazon. Not so much prog, more psycedelic.

It must have been released before, because I have it on my hard drive (and it's been there for a while).

Hey how's it going? I'm new to this forum and wanted to start with this recommendation :)
This is my band, we're from Costa Rica! It's a really cool prog/rock/metal band, with really diverse feelings and textures and awesome instrumental and vocal parts. The band has been around since 2006 and has 3 studio albums. Here are the 2 released videoclips that are a sequence which is pretty cool for the latest album (The Book of Lost Words), the songs are "Disconnected" and "Days Like Eternity" : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9huQTvEtL4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47XnZU3L898 Even bassist Michael Manring is a guest musician on one of the songs called "River", here's a video of him recording a solo on that song, and I'll post the song in the next video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-mrwqxJXcs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjpyUgITOwM My favourite songs in the latest album are Transcendence, State of Awareness and Louder than the Sun if you're interested in checking out some more... Even the art and concept is great! The website: http://www.timesforgottencr.com http://www.facebook.com/timesforgotten and all the other social sites... plus the music is available online on pretty much all the usual sites (amazon, itunes, bandcamp, cdbaby, etc) So what do you think? Cheers! Edited by Spectrum - February 15 2013 at 12:23 |
