Not a perfect album, but one that came out at the right time and had an 'AMAZING' production.

"The Great Gig in the Sky" keeps it from being perfect in my opinion, but it is still top-tier quality.

I don't think it's perfect, I think Wish You Were Here is closer to perfection.

Not even close.... it's one of those 4.75 stars albums... ... Well, I guess that makes it be close.... .....But anyway, if we go with The Floyd's albums, I'd say WYWH or TW are closer to perfection in "The T's Encyclopedia of Decent, Family-friendly Progressive Rock"....

I say in a lot of DSOTM detractors (not the persons above) some kind of envy of all the reconigtion that Pink Floyd receives in all musical world- not only rock or prog world. It's something like "I wish that my fav album had received all recognition it deserves". I don't think that DSOTM is THE perfect album, but as far as pop music can go, this album is one of the few possible choices to a anyone definitive 1 of the 10 lost island albums (the other 9 must be Sgt. Pepper's, jazz/world music and classical). It defines pop, rock and (inside rock universe) prog music in 40 minutes.

I think it's perfect in all aspects: music, lyrics, the concept, performance, sound effects, production.
Even now it sounds fresh.
One of the key rock albums.

I don't know. It has "money" which seems really out of place on the album. Otherwise, I think it's probably deserving of the recognition it gets.

To me, Wish You Were Here is the closest to the perfection over all the albums Pink floyd did in their career.
