Oh we are lightening fast to label a band pompous and we do so in a half negative way ... So lets allow the mirror of judgment to reflect back upon us are we Prog fans pompous in our beliefs and expectations when it comes to music ... is art imitating life or is life imitating art  ...
maybe its "us"  that causes the populous to largely ignore our musical genre because they think we are "pompous"  not the artists after all

are we an entirely pompous genre by nature,  this is the question ? Shocked

Is there a "we are pompous half the time" option?

Frankly it would be beneath my dignity to reply to such a trivial and meaningless poll.

Not pompous, but this prog fan is a proud one.  How can one not be proud to listen to such exquisite music that is miles high above the garbage the majority of human beings listen to ?

Unless that's a pompous attitude... Confused

I'll vote for that. I usually am proud to listen to progressive rock but at other times I find myself yearning for Neil Young or Bob Dylan. And agreeing with my brother on certain elements of progressive rock. Embarrassed

everyone's either pompous or already defeated. humility has been cut out of the range of human mental states so you'll get contrition at best. ;)

basically put me down for pompous

Maybe if we exclusively focus on prog, instead of admitting less complex/creative/unusual styles of music, but saying "some music" is better than "some other music" isn't necessarily pompousness, just a matter of perception which can be right or wrong, depending on the arguments and motives. Then again, it's more of elitism, there. Guess pomp might just be closer to ignoring society's rules, because you discovered Close To The Edge or parading about in your underwear because Van der Graaf earned you that...errrr...pedestal.

This is why you should let Robin save the day...
