I think that we are all afraid of global warming, nuclear holocaust etc etc, it's folks "pet foibles" that are funny.............
It's true, I am really not happy with the things, I even avoid the aisle in the supermarket where I know they lurk in a cunning fashion!
But hey, I have adjusted my life accordingly, and glad it brings some amusement!!!

Dentists!
My wife made me go before we got married, it had been almost 15 years for me. Good news was that I only needed a couple of cavities filled and a good cleaning.
For my wife - spiders, spiders, spiders.
Oh, and global warming is a myth perpetrated by politicians and special interest groups. Google 'friends of science' for a more informed stance on this phenomenon.
(I was around in the '70's when everyone was predicting a new ice age)
Nuclear holocaust - man, the weekend is coming - I don't even want to consider that.
Go Sens go!

OK, now that I know you're not kidding, I must know...
what horrible experience involving an umbrella caused this?
Here, lay down on the couch, I'll get my notepad.

Sleeper you are wrong. Don't be fooled by the media hype.
Accurate satellite, balloon and mountain top observations made over the last three decades have not shown any significant change in the long term rate of increase in global temperatures. Average ground station readings do show a mild warming of 0.6 to 0.8Cover the last 100 years, which is well within the natural variations recorded in the last millennium. The ground station network suffers from an uneven distribution across the globe; the stations are preferentially located in growing urban and industrial areas ("heat islands"), which show substantially higher readings than adjacent rural areas ("land use effects").
There has been no catastrophic warming recorded.
