FORTUNE TELLER

Inner-City Scream

LP

ANAZITISI Records ARLP 70-29F

Fuzzy underground album recorded back in 1978, and released as a private pressing of 500 copies.

The band formed in Baltimore, Maryland by Danny Amburn, John Holt, Joe Klimas, Mark Beyder and Bob Wells. Their album, heavy at places, is full of fuzz-guitarwork with 60's garage

& british invasion influences and low-budget production (think of BOA or Shadrack Chameleon albums) while a couple of songs have a wild and underground approach to rural rock.

This album exists in a time warp. It’s from the midst of the first punk era, but sounds genuinely 60s garage the way no neo-garage band ever did. The fuzz guitars are everpresent, and the songs are pure garage pop and garage rock, rocking hard without ever sounding remotely “hard rock.” The sound is as cheap as can be, which only accentuates the coolness of the fuzz. Despite some awkward singing, there are a lot of catchy melodies here, and I can imagine that Baltimorians who discovered “Nuggets” in the late 70s went nuts over this band. A few songs flirt with rural rock, but basically it’s teen-sounding angst, just as cool as their punk peers. [AM]

ONE ST. STEPHEN

S/T

LP

ANAZITISI Records ARLP 70-30F

The first ever official reissue of this highly-rated and very rare US album.

Don L. Patterson (aka One St. Stephen) wrote the music and lyrics, was lead vocalist, played electric guitars, directed and produced the album 'One St. Stephen' in March of 1975. The music was originally intended for a film Don was developing with the working title 'The Devil's Reservation'. Due to a famous Jazz musician with the same name, Don used the alias of One St. Stephen. The music was recorded at the legendary Owl Studios (Columbus, Ohio), using the same 8-channel analog recording deck that was used to tape the audio at Woodstock in 1969. Because everyone who heard the LP wanted a copy, Don pressed a very limited amount from Queen City Record Company (Cincinnati Ohio). He also designed the album sleeve and label. The response by regional disc jockeys was phenomenal. The album got a lot of regional air play. A few months later, Don was offered a recording contract from two major record companies in New York City. Don was asked to tour. Don was never interested in the world of rock and walked away from a music future. Since then, the album has been sought by many record collectors around the world and bootlegged several times on CD and vinyl  in Europe.

One of the finest examples of mid-70's US psych-acid music. Great vocals with some  Jim Morrison "colour", heavy and sometimes fuzzy acidelic guitar work and excellent musicianship overall.

Fully licenced by Don Patterson (who did half of the remastering work). Exact reproduction for the cover and labels. It includes extra poster/painting (45x65cm) and large 12-pages booklet (30x30cm) with bio, lyrics, paintings, drawings and photos. All fully laminated.

PVC protective outersleeve.

180gr. vinyl as usual.

It will be a  400 black and 100 coloured copies, vinyl edition.

HABEAS CORPUS

My roots…

LP

ANAZITISI Records ARLP 80-31

Habeas Corpus formed in Athens, Greece in 1977. Originally a trio of guitar-bass-drums and occasionally, at some live gigs, a quartet with the addition of a keybordist/guitarist. At the end of 1981, all three members participated to the foundation of the more well-known band, SYNDROMO and made an album for Vertigo in 1982.

Habeas Corpus' music is instrumental (no vocals) and combines heavy progressive rock and jazz/fusion rock with classical and greek traditional tinges all around.

This limited release, collects all their recorded material from 1980-82. A couple of the tracks are from a studio demo while the other 6 tracks are recorded "live".

All tracks are unreleased and uncompiled.

From the original 2-track master tapes and fully licenced by Stavros Theodorakos. It  includes a 20x20cm laminated triptych (6 pages in total) with bio, photos and memorabilia and a big gig poster from their last appearance, early 1982. PVC protective outersleeve.

ANAPLOUS

Anosia

CD

ANAZITISI Records ARCD 00-32

Anaplous is a rock band from Athens, Greece that can be categorized, if someone wants to do so, to the alternative indie rock genre. The “garage” influences are obvious at first impression (maybe the only group existing with greek lyrics and such relations), but they do not restrain the band’s attitude to explore other directions. Various indie, punk, post rock forms have been embodied to the composition and orchestration of anaplous music.

The band’s members are:

Papasotiriou Sokratis: Vocals

Ladias Giannis: Guitar

Rachoutis Thanasis: Bass guitar

Korkolis Panagiotis: Keyboards

Lergios Paris: Drums

On November 2007, anaplous recorded their first work that has been professionally produced at SCA studio, consisting of the following tracks: “Arnitiko”, “Adiorthota Lathi”, “Fovase”, “Stin Alli Plevra”, These 4 tracks plus a bonus instrumental track called “Desert”, form the mini-demo album of the group.

Thirteen songs are being included to their first CD called “anosia” also recorded and produced at SCA studio. A really big dose of rock n’ roll spirit bursts out of most songs but at the same time, anaplous manage to compound the punk energy and the indie rock sensibilities. Fuzzy and strong guitar riffs, interesting bass lines and keyboard themes take turns, composing melodic phrases that cannot be unnoticed even at first hearing. The frequent rotation of strong-dynamic and rhythmic parts, going with a solid rock backbeat is another characteristic of “anosia”. Anaplous’ lyrics are not of less importance. Their content is mostly introvert, describing inner thoughts, and emotions. Together with a minimal but strong performance of the mail vocals, they boost up the whole atmosphere.

YEZDA URFA

Boris

LP+7"

ANAZITISI Records ARLP/S 70-33F

The first fficial vinyl reissue of this highly-rated and very rare US album.

Yezda Urfa was a progressive rock band that formed in the fall of 1973 and existed until the spring of 1981.

Their "Boris", privately pressed, album came out in 1975 as a demo for giving them a way-out to some major record label. Their try had no luck as the album didn’t atract any interest from the record labels, and nowadays this is one of the rarest US pressings.

Boris is an eclectic progressive/symphonic rock album -although some folky elements are evident here and there- reminiscent of some UK bands such as Yes, Gentle Giant, Cirkus and Fantasy. But…Yezda Urfa was a US group and their music influencies and abilities moved them farther, producing a unique, powerful, adventurous, complicated and bizarre final result. Powerful rhythm section, superb playing from the synths, keyboard and wind instruments and ingenious use of the guitar, banjo and mandolin.

A must for the progressive music aficionados.

"Legendary local rarity with an interesting mix of styles. Opens like a late 60s westcoast folkrock LP, then moves into Yes-style symph/prog sounds with tempo shifts, moog leads and frantic playing. Basement recording with a live feel and plenty of enthusiasm saves this from the usual prog-rock traps, and the tongue-in-cheek, showtune feel that runs through it is an advantage in this context. Excellent, high-pitched vocals is another plus. Side 1 is impressive throughout, while some of the unique dementia is missing on the too-proggish side 2. While no great fan of the style this is an LP I'll probably return to in the future. [PL]"

 (Taken from Acid Archives)

Yet, a 7" single (with laminated picture sleeve) is included with the previously unreleased -on vinyl- song, "The basis of Dubenglazy while Dirk does the dance".

PVC protective outersleeve.
