Within the context of Kyuss, John Garcia is a great singer, Different style than Homme.
Garcia is more of a screamer in the style of oh, I don't know, Gillian maybe? I'm not saying he "sounds like" Gillian though. I realise I'm probably not making sense. |

My friend likes Kyuss but he says their singer sucks. Is this true?

Have you tried Monster Magnet Or Fu Manchu floydisgod? Or John Garcia's post Kyuss band Unida? If you haven't I highly recommend all three. |

I'm a pretty big Kyuss fan, and I like Queens of the Stone Age too.
I wonder if there are any bands like them (especially Kyuss) because I can't seem to find any. Edited by floydisgod - January 15 2007 at 22:28 |

From their latest album. One of my favorite tracks by them:
Queens of the Stoneage: Someone's in the Wolf I miss Mark Lanegan's vocals more than Grohl's drumming on that album. |

A great band, much better rock'n'roll than the overrated Audioslave and Velvet Revolver. And no, i don't hate Nirvana, actually I love them, simple music does NOT always mean bad music. |

Kyuss are great. I have everything they've done but I wouldn't really comparable them to QOTSA who I enjoy as well. Definately different sounding bands.
When I listen to Kyuss, I'm always reminded of Black Sabbath. Probably due to the tuned down guitars.

I bought The Eagles Of Death Metal's first Cd when it came out just because of Homme.
Not only was it not death metal, but it sounded nothing like QOTSA. I was very disappointed with it, Then I saw them recently on Conan or Kimmel, I can't remember which, And I liked the song they played, Go Figure. |

'Songs for the Deaf' was my favorite album when i was a senior in high school. I still love it, as well as Rated R, but I thought their last one was a disappointment with the exception of a few songs.
I like some Kyuss, but not all of it. I have yet to check out Eagles of Death Metal (another Josh Homme project). |

I'm not sure, You may be thinking of QOTSA's first drummer Alfredo Hernandez , he also played on Kyuss's last record. |

Hey guys...great!!! i'm not a fan of QOSA and Kyuss but when I listen to them several years before I Liked them, I'm gonna search some albums right now.
I have a Question about QOSA... what is the name of that "chilean" guy who lives in the states and has a Record Studio (I'm not sure) that even Chris Cornell recorded in that one, and who also played in QOSA (the bassist may be, I'm not sure again)..do you know? he had a band called "Eleven", but I think you don't know it |

After all this talk of QOTSA, I feel like listening to the debut today. I haven't listened to it in about 2 years.

I have Rater R and Songs for the Deaf. Both are brilliant! I had their
debut and Lullabies to Paralyze on my computer, but I didn't listen to
those as often, so I got rid of them to free some disk space. Great
band anyway!

Oh yeah. He's definetely one of the greatest. He has so much power! I have no problem with Nirvana, I just think there are better bands out there. They were a vast improvement over the whole hair metal thing, and some of their lesser known songs are really cool.

I know how much Nirvana is disliked here at PA, but you got to admit that Dave Grohl is a pretty mean drummer. I wished he would continue working with QOTSA.
