Closer To The Heart-therein lies a tale regarding that song.....
When my sister, myself and a friend of each of us went to see Rush in support of the "A Farewell To Kings" album-the tale end of the tour in early 1978 in Ottawa, before the concert, my sister and her friend found a way to sneak in and were in the arena when Rush were practicing before the show-it was just them and the band-and Neil Peart noticed them and said, "Hey, let's do one for the girls" and they played "Closer To The Heart". By this time, security had noticed them as well, and they were escorted back outside to a somewhat bewildered rest of us waiting in line to get in....

I appreciate both, but Closer to the Heart is my preference.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

I love Both songs a lot, but Wonderous Stories takes my vote, by a small fraction.

I've always liked 90125. But yeah, i would have voted Rush in this context.

Yeah, well, I'm pretty sure you would still say "closer to the heart" if the other one was "owner of a lonely heart."

That would have been an unfair poll. An epic vs a short ballad.

Yep. It's hard to argue with that. They were trying to build off the momentum of 2112 and finally get played on the radio. It worked and although CttH wasn't a top forty hit it did get some airplay.

Wonderous Stories is pure magic.
Closer to the Heart, while not bad, is an obvious attempt for a single.
