I would appreciate any recommendations for John McLaughlin albums.
I'm am really curious about titles like Electric Dreams, Trio Of Doom, Concerto for Guitar & Orchestra "The Mediterranean', Que Alegria, and Industrial Zen. I have heard some amazing tracks from these recordings on The Essential John McLaughlin. I would really appreciate your opinions on these titles.
I have been listening to The Heart Of Things. A cd that I picked up in a bin for $3.99. I am amazed by the guitar improv on this one. His playing is more universal than ever it seems. I enjoy the writing, it's a little like Passport or even Weather Report, but the originality shines through. Clocking in at just 47:20, after the last piece I am left with a feeling of abandonment. This record impresses me to that point and I have played it 6 times today. Anybody out there know the history on this line up. 1997?
I've heard almost everything from Miles Davis and all of McLaughlin's early solo works as well. and Mahavishnu Orchestra . The Heart Of Things is the only title I've heard from the latter part of his career.
I would love to hear details about the above mentioned McLaughlin titles. please help me on this one?
