Topic: Fates warning vs Dream theater vs Queensryche Posted: April 17 2011 at 10:32 |
I saw before 2 minutes that there was this poll in 2006. Well, let's see what you believe and prefer now. Dream theater is one of my favorite bands but I voted Fates warning.Because they are less technical.

Though I do enjoy all three, it's Dream Theater for me, hands down.

I vote Fates Warning. Their music has always been more interesting to me. But who knows, maybe Dream Theater will super evolve since Portnoy is gone.

You do know that they toured together, right?
I SAW THEM here in Portland!
FW was an acquired taste for me at the time. Queensryche, was nice, but I really thought that they were too "famous" or too "big" for their own good. The whole show was more about their big name, than the music itself. DT, on that show made the other two bands look, and sound weak. And Labrie was in fine form. And this was the show that the encore was the Who song, and Labrie kicked butt on it, too!
Since then, for me, I have seen DT twice more, and they were disappointing, and their emphasys was more on their loudness and guitar and drums, than it was the music ... at least in that first show, the music stood out way better and much more interesting, than what they showed later, which came off as an oversized ego!

Maybe you're right. I don't know. They will come here in Greece on August 2nd. But I won't go. Because I want to see them with Portnoy.

I like Dream theater more overall, but Fates Warning is phenomanal in thier own way and Operation Mind Crime is a great Queensryche album. I'm stil on the fence about Empire though.
