Planet X for me. I always thought that LTE are only DT without vocals...

LTE I believe had more structure. Still I could change my mind though.

that's tough, but i think i'd have to go with LTE, I like the improvisatinal feel that they have more than Planet X's more structured one.

I think that LTE has a little more flow with their music, while Planet X seems a little too calculated with odd meters and riffs....But ultimately, I do enjoy listening to Planet X a little more.

and then there was music...

Planet X is great! Love their music! Which leads to another question, who's
the better drummer, Mike Portnoy or Virgil Donati?
I'd go with Donati. He's super fast, fluid, and may have the fastest two feet
on the planet, (just listen to Dog Boots).

Considering Planet X is still putting out great music -they get the vote.

Oh man, Planet X by like a light year. For some reason I was really unimpressed with LTE.

Simply from comparing LTE2 to Quantum (the only two releases I have from either band), Planet X wins by miles and miles. LTE seems really talented and in-your-face, but there is hardly even any fusion on that CD anyways; to me its just (very talented) instrumental hard rock/metal, with a few fusion tendencies. I think Planet X is a hundred times better at creating a groove and an expressive melody. Plus they have Virgil Donati.

You have to take into account, both bands released new albums in 2007, and the older thread was made in 2006, and the new albums may have changed allegiances and opinions, so it's still perfectly vaild to have the newer thread, given that perhaps maybe when the newer thread was made, the older one may not have come up in the search function.
