Savatage all the way. For the guitar work alone they deserve it.

My vote goes for Savatage. Indeed I think Savatage is my second fav band after Shadow Gallery.
Savatage is probably one of the most relevant bands in metal prog scene in the last two decades. They have a very original style that mixes powerful riffs, potent vocals and marvelous musical concepts.

Savatage for sheer originality, the Olivia's, and the fact that Queensryche have two good albums.

Savatage are true prog. I never really understood what was so groundbreaking about Queensryche.

I like Savatage a lot but I prefer Queensryche. Savatage is not Prog Metal. They are Heavy/power metal.

Savatage are a proper prog metal band, but I like Queensrÿche better.
Savatage have made some really great stuff, but it just doesn't
interest me as much as Queensrÿche's, for some reason.

I think overall Savatage have been more consistant and perhaps more progressive. Just listen to some of Savatages later stuff its definatly prog metal ! no questions asked . The most progressive Queensryche ever got was Operation Mindcrime (great CD) however people are still debating if it is infact prog or not ?

Queensryche wins, mainly because of their excellent vocalist, Geoff Tate.

Sure, I love Wake of Magellan and Zakk Stevens´vocals, but at the end of the day Geoff Tate is God!

SAVATAGE!!! Queensryche are quite good though. Yet I've always felt Savatage were a league above QR.
I absolutely love Zak Stevens' voice, yet both my parents and my friend (who is big prog metal fan!) said his singing was either "kind of off", "I don't really like this guy's voice", or they said the vocals were "not very strong". Odd becuase I think Zak stevens has one of the most powerful metal voices around. Jon Oliva who sings on the earlier albums is pretty powerful as well, though he is a little screechy and a little annoying at times (hall of the mountain king where he does that 20 second "ah" "ah" "ah" "ah" "oh yeaaaaah" thing).

Savatage!!! It's so obvious, it would be almost useless to justify the choice.
And someone please name me a (metal) song that has a better guitar solo than Ghost in the Ruins. I'm still searching...
