After so many listenings, I have to go with their second (and last) effort: Il Tempo della Gioia. More elaborated and convincing.

Andrea ... you always start off these wonderful, but oh-so specialised polls ...

I have only heard one track off the first album though ... so I cannot vote ... but surely the most beautiful song is Villa Doria Pamphili? Definitely my favourite song from the second album ...

Nice, my wote counts 33.33%. I like them both very much. Not a bad song on any of the albums. But I agree with you Andrea. Don't know what they are songs are about, but I find their to be music is very uplifting.

I'm currently at work, therefore I should cease myself before I revise these albums back at home.

Andrea, as usual demanding italian prog wizard......... Come on, not many progheads has ever listened to PFM, let alone Quella Vecchia Locanda. Could you seriously tell Quella Vecchia Locanda from Locanda Delle Fate.

Both are great nevertheless..

both are excellent and i would hate to separate one from the other in the excellence, but if it must come down to it, Il Tempo, but just by a hair

This is actually toughest I ever seen!

I have these two albums on one CD, and it is virtually impossible for me to separate them, but bearing in mind that it does not leave my attention for a second and my emotions are even rising towards the end, I would reckon the second album is a tick better.

But I did not vote in this poll just to avoid sending a wrong message (or creating wrong impression) that second is overwhelmingly better. These two are equal masterpieces of progressive music!

I only have the first album. I like it, but it's not one of my favourite Italian cd's. 

The soundbites that I heard from the 2nd album sound fantastic, though.

I like both albums, but i think that their debut is much better, one of the best of the Italian prog scene.

My thoughts exactly. A member here (  ) sent me a list of Italian Prog, still working my way through it. Only have the first one. It's great !

I voted for the first one... cause I listened to the second one so many time!

Objectively, those are two masterpeices very close one to the other! Anyone agree with me that the piano sound on those two is hard to beat? I think this is the greatest piano I heard... Leonardo Sasso is great also...

I love those sur-specialised polls!

Hi Andrea,

After the first (excellent) album, the group switched recording labels and added guitarist Adriano Monteduro. In 1974 they released "Adriano Monteduro", more acoustic and soft than the previous work, even if the lyrics are good. Nicola Agrimi (guitar) and Pierfranco Pavone (bass) were substitued by Enzo De Luca (guitar & vocals) and Dino Cappa /bass). They disbanded soon after and only Federico Troiani (excellent keyboardist) continued as solo performer.
