Topic: 1981 albums by the Moody Blues & Blue Oyster Cult Posted: March 02 2018 at 13:12 |
I just thought of this. Two synth based albums that kind of predate the synth rock era(ie Rush's eighties albums).

Neither. It´s long time I´ve heard that Moodies album and never heard that Blue Öyster-album.

BOC > Moodies.
I've never been able to get into TMB. Just not for me. OTOH, BOC are awesome.

Wow, have you guys even heard these albums? Maybe not full blown prog but I would think both(or at least one) would appeal to most prog fans especially those who like symph prog(at least a little bit).

I would prefer to hear the Moody Blues than Blue Oyster Cult.

BOC, of course ! No surprises here... Besides having a great cover, Fire of Unknown Origin contains some of the band's greatest songs, namely "Joan Crawford", "Vengeance: The Pact", and the marvellous "Veteran of the Psychic Wars" (though the latter's definitive version is to be found on ET Live).

I'm having a tough time deciding. I'm a bigger MB fan and that is one of my favorites by them. There's only one weak track imo(talking out of turn) although gemini dream is maybe a bit too discoey or ELO-ish or both. Lol. There are, however, no weak tracks on that BOC album. Still, not sure I can choose.

'Voyager because the 'Cult album doesn't have Patrick Moraz on it.

Love both of these albums but the BOC gets my vote.

agreed! I am more of a Moodys fan overall but that is probably my favorite BOC album
"burning for you" and "Don't turn your back" are also pretty awesome
