Topic: Transatlantic: Reunite for new studio release!! Posted: April 16 2009 at 02:49 |
TRANSATLANTIC FLIES AGAIN!!! PROGRESSIVE ROCK SUPERGROUP REUNITES FOR NEW STUDIO ALBUM.
POSSIBLE LATE 2009 RELEASE PLANNED.
TRANSATLANTIC, the progressive rock "supergroup" comprised of Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), Pete Trewavas (Marillion), Roine Stolt (The Flower Kings) and Neal Morse (ex-Spock's Beard), have reunited after a 7 year hiatus to begin work on a brand new studio album.
The band began work on the album in early April in Nashville and are expected to have it released by year's end if all goes as planned.
TRANSATLANTIC have previously released two studio albums to tremendous critical and fan accl.. 2000's SMPTe and 2001's Bridge Across Forever. The band toured on the heels of each release with an American Tour in 2000 and a European Tour in 2001 and released subsequent Live DVD's/CD's from both tours before going their separate ways for an indefinite hiatus which lasted almost the entire decade.

E-Dub, if you are reading this a big to you for your detective work good sir. It just goes to show that those hours whiled away in airport lounges can be useful!
This is brilliant news. Can't wait for the album. If it's anywhere near as good as the other two I'll be well pleased.

Funny, Roine denied this just a week ago on the Flower Kings yahoo group. But I guess they just wanted to wait for the right moment..................
In any case, can't wait to hear what they come up with!

I guess I'm the Geraldo Rivera of the ProgArchives, eh? this is indeed good news. Morse needs something like this, too. Should be a killer disc. E

Eric Poirot? E-Dub Holmes? This item was pre-investigating genius and seemingly possible thanks to 1- succint observations 2- being at the right place at the right time and 3- pure chance. In all cases, our super-spy (aka Marillion fanboy) was there and got even outside source confirmation .
We kneel at your shrine, sir !!!!!!! Very proud of you !

cool! ive admittingly been on the fence with Transatlantic, liked some of it, wasnt too crazy about the rest. But i havent listened to their albums in a long time, and recently got really into the Flower Kings with The Sum of No Evil, so maybe i should go back.
who knows, with a 7 year break, they might outdo themselves

Will Morse be able to restrain himself from sudden outbursts of "seeing the light" ?\
I hope so... Because they were a truly fantastic group, and I hope it remains that way!

Thanks, Guys. I do think it's cool that I'm being credited as 'cracking the story'; however, it really was dumb luck. I'm still surprised that I had the maracas to actually get up and go after him. My feet were moving before I even realized what I was doing.
I do think what solidified it with me is when I text my friend who ran into Pete in Montreal and said he was flying to Nashville. After that I knew the stars were in perfect alignment.

Oh man, I just know Dream theater and Transatlantic are going to release KILLER ALBUMS. Every time Portnoy decides to make a side-project album it means that he is over-inspired, which means that he puts his best on his main band and the rest is the rest.
Oh boy, oh boy, I'm just feeling that 2009 is going to be awesome.
